Can anyone share if they think this game is worth it or if their kids like it? What do they do?

I've been going back and forth on this one. Some people seem to love it, and others say that it gets tedious fast and that although it looks on the surface as though it's similar to Animal Crossing, it's not. I know it's a port from a mobile game, but from what I hear, it retains those trappings of drip feeding you daily tasks to get you to log in but that there isn't much under the surface. My kids like Animal Crossing, but they have no connection to the Hello Kitty brand, a connection that I fear might be necessary to get any enjoyment out of this game.

A lot of fun, but with caveats. It doesn't compare to animal crossing. (There are "friends" that ask for stuff and you could design homes, but it's thin and that part isn't deep or that fun. ;There's barely any customization options, but (!) the gameplay loop is a mix of (admittedly fun) fetch quests. It's weirdly addicting in a mobile game kind of way, too, with enough variety that it stays fresh. It's enjoyable for both adults and kids, for sure, and worth 15 bucks, but anyone paying more than that might be making a mistake.

there's also dlc for the game, and they may release a more complete version of the game at a later date

Sweet baby Jesus, why did I write all this about a freakin hello kitty game

I personally like it a lot as an adult Sanrio fan who likes cozy games. Can't speak for kids though. The game is basically a cute story about going on a vacation but having to land on an abandoned island that slowly comes alive as you progress through the story. It is very mini quest heavy so the kid should know how to read to get the most fun of it. If they don't know how, maybe they can learn with it. The quests are easy but entertaining and lots of family friendly humor. You "level up friendships" with each of the characters to unlock companion abilities. Lots of picking up items that spawn daily in the beginning to craft things. The collecting aspect is both short term and long term. Short term is collecting all bugs and fish. Long term is crafting everything there is to craft (i've been playing for a few months and not near close), collecting all clothes, furniture, island visitors (probably can take a couple of years judging from what I've seen online lol but not necessary to enjoy game).

I can keep going but basically....I think this game is a steal at $15. HOWEVER, this is the regular version. The Deluxe upgrade has extra useful crafting materials (great in the beginning but not necessary. It would help you progress through the story faster instead of waiting days to collect them yourself) plus about 2 years worth of special event furniture and clothing which do help in some of the missions. If you or they like it, you can always upgrade to the deluxe edition from the Nintendo shop I think. I bought the deluxe at $39.99 when it was that price on Amazon a while back and think it's worth that.

Many good reviews from different forums, I was not tempted to until I read one saying "I enjoyed the game a lot and I don't even like Hello Kitty'. Thanks, OP, at $15 I am still skeptical, but nice find. I am not buying it at retail or the earlier Amazon price $30. I just bought it.
