Star Wars Outlaws on PlayStation 5 looks much stronger after updates, with forced stealth removed, bugs cleaned up, and several gameplay rough edges reworked. The game still leans hard into Ubisoft open world structure, but the Star Wars atmosphere, vibes, and tight enough worlds carry it well. Performance also seems solid on PC, and the $15 price makes the base game feel worthwhile. The main question is whether that familiar Ubisoft formula and Star Wars setting appeal to you, making this a solid pick at the right price.

  • The gameplay loop still follows a familiar Ubisoft open-world style, which can suit players who enjoy Far Cry or Assassin's Creed.

  • The game can run fine on PC without issues, which reduces platform risk for PC buyers.

  • The updates removed forced stealth and cleaned up bugs, which makes the game feel more playable now.

  • Story DLCs can be purchased separately at low prices, including a pirate-themed expansion, which improves value at $15.

  • The Ubisoft-style open-world loop may still not appeal to players who dislike other Ubisoft titles like Assassin's Creed or Far Cry.

  • The game may still feel like a Star Wars version of Watch Dogs, which can disappoint players wanting a new Watch Dogs instead.

  • The PC demo reportedly felt empty and hollow, which can be a warning sign if you judge the game by early impressions.

  • A major carry mechanic reportedly auto-dropped new weapons when climbing before updates, which could affect traversal and loadout planning.

Picked this up the last time it was posted. They absolutely nailed the vibes and atmosphere with this one. Good enough gameplay with tight enough worlds to keep you going. A solid 8/10.
I as well as one other person commented that was played on PC with no issues. I'm waiting for a $15 gold edition before trying it on console.

For people wondering how this game is, at least before all of the updates and changes, it basically played like a Star Wars version of Watch Dogs. I'm not sure how it plays now, but I think the general consensus at the time, was that people would rather just have a new Watch Dogs game, than a Watch Dogs game with a weird Star Wars skin over it.

I liked Far Cry 2-5, Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey. Watch Dogs 1 was OK. Got bored quickly with FC6, Pandora, other AC games and Watch Dogs 2. Still worth a shot at $15?

It sounds like you may be getting tired of "The Ubisoft formula." I definitely am and haven't purchased an Ubi title since FC5, (Got FC6 for free) but I still enjoyed this game for the most part.

If you are tired of that formula, you'll find this game didn't stray far from gameplay seen in other recent Ubisoft games like WD2 or the AC games. The wildcard is if you're a Star Wars fan. If so, you'll probably enjoy this, but if you don't care either way for the franchise, you can probably skip it.

Has the game gotten optimized enough to justify playing it yet?
I watched a YouTube video that said some of the main gripes about being able to carry new weapons longer was fixed. That was a main gripe because they would auto drop if you had to climb or something. Plus some other minor things. For $15 I picked it and a few other games to add to my backlog.

Is it a bad as many reviewers state, or is how bad the game is overblown?

So I dogged on this game in the past, mainly because I played the demo months ago(on PC) and found it to feel... empty and hollow. I ended up pulling the trigger on this because I needed to increase my cart size on Walmart.
I ended up playing the game (after buying last week at this price) for most of the weekend and really liked it. I ended up buying both dlcs with story expansions (wild card @ $5.99 & a pirate's fortune @ $7.49).
Note: The season pass wasn't on sale at the time but now you can get it for ~$16 instead of $40, which includes several cosmetics if you like those. Or get the two dlcs alone for 13.50 - I believe.

I'd probably jump on this deal given the $15 price, but never finished Jedi Survivor, so this will probably sit in my backlog until I eventually get around to playing. Great price.
