All of the things you hate about it are the reason I was happy to pay a premium for it. It's extremely fast for a smart TV box and doesn't have any junk like branded buttons or ads on screen.The only reason I don't have them on all my TVs yet is because of the rumored updated version but that rumor has been going on so long that I might just grab these at this price

Once you understand the purchase includes three months of free AppleTV and Apple Music it makes the price of a $100 a significant bargain. I have a Roku Ultra but it sits in a box now as the AppleTV is better on so many fronts from dreamy screensavers to huge bandwidth and lots of extra features.

Buy 2. Bought last year at this price. Regretted not buying another. Went back and it was sold out. No other retailer had it at this price.

I literally bought 2 last time they were at this price. One at Costco and one at Best Buy. After trying desperately to force myself to like them, I returned the Costco one. Still have the other. It's basically brand new and still in its box for months now, after multiple attempts to try and like it when I first got it. Didn't work with continue watching with Netflix. Doesn't support live TV unless you use an app (ie no free google tv channels, no dvr compatibility with YTTV). I bought a silicone remote condom for it within a couple of days because the remote is too angular. No quick buttons on the remote to load streaming apps. The only appeal of it is aesthetic with the much vaunted "buttery smooth" interface, which is completely moot since you use that 1% of the time to simply select an app and then you're watching a show and it's absolutely irrelevant. Disrecommended. I got an Onn Plus 4K, installed Projectivy and haven't looked back.

FYI, but a new Apple TV was supposed to launch soon, at least according to rumors. https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/apple-tv/

Just remember that this is in the last year of it's lifecycle. If you need something now sure go for it but if you have something else to service you for about a year and want to get into the Apple ecosystem I would wait for 4th gen. These boxes have a four year lifecycle.

Apple TVs starting with the 4K version have stuck to a consistent four year lifecycle. That would be up in 11 months. Take that for however you want.
