I was able to get a lower spec version down to $1184.92 with military discount, 1,277.87 without. I customized the base model - it's lower spec cpu and lower storage but cheaper for my needs.

My main gripe with this laptop is the 2242 m.2 SSD, it limits the performance and/or increases the cost of any SSD you are going to swap in. Seems like a really odd and stifling design decision in a 15" form factor.

I agree - much prefer a 2280 (also for performance). Note that this is 15.3" - not 15.6" like the old 15" notebooks of the past. Also note that the guts of the laptop are in a small bump at the top of the machine. Note that this model has a 268V CPU - this is a corporate model (vPro enabled) - I'd rather they offer a 258v in this space.
