Pretty much the same as the one on hp.com, but with a better return policy. There was a short period this morning where OMENMAX30 could be applied to this to bring it down to $1399, but they blocked that pretty quick

This a good deal? Looking for a slick deal on a medium-high end gaming laptop

This is not nearly the same as the HP deal. That has an AMD processor and uses way less power. That means the GPU on the AMD version can take more TDP and is much more capable at gaming. (The total TDP is shared between the processor and GPU on laptops) NOTE: I'm thinking of the Newegg deal for $1824 right now. that's the much better deal with the AMD processor

RAM on this is 5600 MHz, i.e. Slower speed, right? (I was told to look for 8000 MHz ones.)

All these prices on gaming laptops make me glad that I have a Micro Center around me. This system was $1800 for a long time there and is still currently $1900. There's the Dell Alienware Area-51 18" 5090 that's $3199 at Micro Center but Dell currently has a "deal" for the same system for $3500.
