The first tiles we got were gifted Picassotiles which aren't riveted and have IMO weird latticing where the tiles are pretty squishy. These Playmags are riveted and have cross sectional latticing much more similar to MagnaTiles which feel much stronger and less worrying might break if someone like my 4yo steps on one with some force.

These are the best we've used and are up to 6 sets I think. We store them in those large Sterlite containers.
