We stick with branded MagnaTiles BUT if I were to dive into the budget friendly brands, it would probably be Playmags.

The first tiles we got were gifted Picassotiles which aren't riveted and have IMO weird latticing where the tiles are pretty squishy. These Playmags are riveted and have cross sectional latticing much more similar to MagnaTiles which feel much stronger and less worrying might break if someone like my 4yo steps on one with some force.
