Also, can buy up to two of these phones and you'll get the silver plan on the second line for $30. You don't even have to buy them both at the same time. I bought one phone to unlock and my account now says I can add a second line for $30. Note that you do have to maintain the silver plan to keep this discount.

Also I'm guessing the days of service start when I manually activate the device when I receive it or is it when I made or receive the order?
Sorry for the questions, first time ordering from Straight Talk

I turned off my private DNS on my phone then used RiseVPN on NY and it let me through. It would give me errors on other locations. Maybe known VPN IPs get blocked by them

1 - After placing your order, an "activate" button will show up in your online account (make sure to create one when ordering). Click this button to activate your line/phone. Note that it might take a little while for this button to show up. Mine didn't show up until the next day, but I placed my order late in the day. I used this method and it worked for me, so this is the method for which I can vouch. I also recommend this method because it might get the clock ticking on the unlock wait period a few days earlier than the second method.
2 - Your phone will arrive with a card containing instructions on how to activate your line/phone.
Using method #1, my account showed that my next payment wasn't due until 30 days after either when I placed my order or when I clicked the activate button. I can't recall which, but they were within one day of each other.
I'm still in my first month and on the silver plan but here's what I plan to do:
Month 1 (Days 1-30): Silver plan (min required to get the phone for free)
Month 2 (Days 31-60): Bronze plan (unless I find a way to get a cheaper plan, as an unlock only requires "active service"). Others have mentioned that you have to purchase the second month's plan "in reserve" if you pay for it early, otherwise doing so may end the first month's plan early.
At or after 60(ish) days, the phone should automatically unlock. Search for "lock" in settings to view the phone's unlock status. HTH! 🙂
I like the e-ink matte screen, especially for reading, and it is really nice with comics and graphic novels. The 5G access is a nice bonus.
I'll probably unlock the phone and sell it for more than I paid for both and have a nice spare tablet for free.
