This is NOT a sale, or even close to a deal....
I paid $59.99 at B&H, 2 months ago, and no, prices have not gone up that much. Amazon is lying.... again.....

Samsung's 1TB Pro Plus microSD card stands out as a fast, reliable storage option for handheld gaming, Switch backups, and other large file transfers. The included Samsung adapter gets praise when paired with the card, and the card has been used successfully for nearly 1TB of Switch data at about 80 MB/s, as well as heavy games on a Steam Deck with no problems. The main caution is the adapter itself, since cheap USB adapters can disconnect and the bundled SD adapter has been called slow or even counterfeit in one case. Pricing also looks less special than the listing suggests, with similar or lower totals available elsewhere.
Common Questions (5)
$79.99 is a common price for this card and has been available for months, so it is not a standout sale. Better recent prices mentioned include $68.45 used-like-new, $67.99 each when buying two at Best Buy, and $75.99 with Samsung EPP.
Yes. Best Buy has matched the $79.99 price, and buying two there can drop the cost to $67.99 each. Samsung's site has also shown $75.99 with EPP.
Yes. The Samsung EVO Select line has been used for heavy game storage on a Steam Deck with no problems, and the PRO Plus is described as fast enough for game storage on a SteamOS handheld. It should work well for storing games on either SteamOS or Windows, with the main limitation being the handheld's own setup and file system choices.
Yes. The small white Samsung USB adapter can move nearly 1TB of data at about 80 MB/s, while the included SD adapter may be much slower for large transfers. A legitimate SD adapter can also avoid I/O errors with FAT32 on older devices.
Yes, the adapter is the main concern raised here: the microSD card can be genuine while the bundled adapter is fake or slow, with one adapter transferring at only about 5 MB/s. Buying direct from Samsung is suggested as a safer alternative for avoiding counterfeit or resized storage products.

On topic, this card works fine in a WiiU using the sdusb mod.
Using fat32 on the switch is asking for problems. I'm only using it on the WiiU because it cannot handle any other format.

All these enormous AI centers haven't even been broken ground, let along being built yet, so they're not sucking up all the oxygen like many would like you to believe.
Amazon AI, xAI, Nvidia, etc. are no where near the large purchasing stage that will follow. Amazon has only announced siting, and while X has been going for a while, but build outs are not imminent.
The fabs for processors, nand, and SD related products are all different. Unless they're tearing something down, it should be close to status quo right now. But there's nothing like the fear of a shortage, bolstered by truckloads of flying bull shit to help prices - and most of all profits - rise out of sight..If there's going to be such a huge demand, it's the memory makers that ought to be "breaking ground" because new processor fabs have been under construction for quite a while now (not all are trouble free though).
What we're seeing is more manipulation. We've had fake shortages forever, and it's usually nothing more than predatory pricing; they do it because they can. We had the Thailand flood that was milked for many years, and bottom dwellers like Seagate - who was not affected by the flood at all - used it for profiteering as they raised prices and turned warranties into fairy dust.
I'm just glad that I have enough to get by (but I do want a single 2TB micro SD card). I've got enough external storage and I've been cleaning up drives to eliminate wasted space. I've also got lots of SSDs, and unless there's a real need, I'm going to do my best to sit this farce out.
N.B.- what I don't know is what kind of memory Optimus uses (uses a Tesla AI processor), and/or if it's something other than what they already manufacture.
I'd suggest you check out tech or financial news. The demand for storage is here NOW. Enterprise class hard drives are backordered 2+ years. SK Hynix has sold their entire 2026 production capacity. Asus and MSI are out there panic-buying DRAM through unusual channels. Worst of all, NAND/DRAM producers aren't responding by building new fabs, as they don't want to end up with another glut should demand collapse (again). Some are even shifting production away from consumer products (like DDR4/5) to higher margin enterprise components (like HBM). Now motherboard manufacturers are cutting back on the design and production of new boards. It's going to get really bad. The only question is for how long.
As mentioned, it's the "memory" (I was lumping HD, SSD, memory, i.e., storage together, but I should have been clearer) guys that should expanding right now. A 2-year backlog is not really a good thing for any company in a competitive generic market because they can lose those sales if they can't deliver on time (quickly).
Density can and will change a lot of that though as producing larger devices (e.g,, 8tb vs 2tb SSDs) will free fab space. There's little need for lower end "device" production, so that may shift upwards for consumers too.
It's just a matter of will, and I've watched the memory/storage market since the beginning... It's always "something". Let's hope the pain is short lived.

Question as I'm learning new to handheld gaming but now about to give it a whirl.... That item has micros D so would this be a decent card for this scenario as in solid and fast enough for presumably game storage? And if I keep this for mentioned and don't return it as I'm trying to figure the damn thing out and what games I can actually play on it, I do plan on setting up the dualboot with Win 11 partition, so realizing the 2 OS's will be independent but require to be installed on the internel per the thorough tutorial guide on the Tubez, would one benefit with adding one of these and recommend if say to allocate it's storage to the SteamOS for storage or Windows 11 usage for the storage?
Sorry for the long winded question, however, most/many/any of ya'll that have this type of device will certainly understand this question but also possibly help me keel 2 birds with one stone as my brain is working overtime trying to decide if I'm keeping this cool yet confusing AF so far, $500+ gadget! 🙏
Edit: All in for one. Seems like a fair deal for this caliber of brand - size too good to pass up maybe 👀
