Haven't tried 1st gen, but 2md get I could not hear plane engines AT ALL. Compared to XM5s that I have, those have a constant whine of the engines. If 1st get are anything like 2nd - amazing travel buds

The deal is available now. I got the QuietComfort Ultras.

For that one, keep in mind there is a Gen 2 of that model. Decided to cancel my order after I looked up the upgrades in the new model.

If you are looking for two pairs the Bose website on their refurbished page have QC Ultra (1st gen) are buy one, get one free today. Two pairs for $249.

Bose has said the 1st gen will get the software update for the mic that was fixed in the 2nd gen, but no date for that update rollout.
