The Wyze Cam Pan v3 stands out as a pan and motion tracking camera that still supports Cam Plus Lite on existing units and can work well with local recording. A high endurance microSD card is the preferred workaround for the free 12 second clip limit, and RTSP setup can succeed by following Wyze's steps and rebooting the camera. The main cautions are that Cam Plus Lite does not transfer to replacement cameras, long cable runs can cause voltage drop, and SD playback in the app can be clunky. A practical pick if you plan around storage and power.
Homeowners wanting local recording, because a high-endurance microSD card can capture clips without relying on cloud events.
Cam Plus Lite is not available on newer Wyze cameras, but existing cameras that already have it keep it. Pan v2 and Cam v3 were the last models to include it, and if you replace a camera that has Cam Plus Lite, it does not transfer to the new one.
Yes. It records a free 12-second event clip, and a high-endurance microSD card is the practical workaround for longer local recording. A 64GB card is the minimum suggested, with 128GB recommended for high-traffic use.
It can record to an SD card, but playback can be clunky: video may show as unavailable until it loads, and you may need to manually scrub the timeline instead of tapping an event for instant playback.
Am I correct that when you add anything past a v3 you lose the cam plus lite right?
I am reading the cam plus lite is like a security guard who works for 1 minute and then takes a 5-minute break; and that it is better to just get a really good SD card.

You don't lose cam plus lite if you add a newer camera. It will remain active on the camera you currently have. If you REPLACE your camera that currently has cam plus lite it will not transfer to the newer camera.

The free 12 sec video clip it records but a solution to that is get a high endurance micro sd card. Minimum 64 gig but I'd get a 128g if it's a high traffic cam
Is there a specific sd card that you recommend? Thanks

You don't lose it for the old cameras. It's just not available for the new cameras.
But with about 20 cams, I went with the $100 per year Cam Plus Unlimited anyway: Pretty good deal when you have a lot of cams. I also have SD cards in all cams, so I have both cloud events and local recording, which I have set to continuous recording on a some cameras.
Same price on the Wyze site, plus you can save an additional 10% if you use "Check out with Prime" on their site. The 10% works for other items, too. Also don't forget CB.

In theory, but it doesn't work. The interface is flawed. Unless the video is instantly queued up by the SD card (it never can be) it'll say video unavailable. This is because it takes the system a second or 3 to load the SD video. Then the only way to view the video is to manually click around to find it on the timeline.
As opposed to how it's supposed to work where you touch the Event and it instantly plays
received mine today and had no problem setting up rtsp.. just follow the instructions https://wyze-beta.s3.us-west-2.am.../rtsp.html
Reboot the camera after completing the steps, my rtsp stream didn't start working until I did that.

The camera can record a free 12-second clip, which can reduce reliance on paid cloud events.
RTSP setup can work when Wyze steps are followed and the camera is rebooted afterward.
Cam Plus Lite can remain active on the camera it is already enabled on, even after adding a newer camera.
Using a high-endurance microSD card can help improve recording reliability for local storage.
Long cable runs can cause voltage drop issues, so mounting location and cabling need careful planning.
SD playback can fail to show events immediately, and viewing may require manually clicking the timeline.
Cam Plus Lite does not transfer when replacing the camera, so upgrading hardware can remove that feature.
The Pan v3 cannot be added to cameras past v3, which can limit compatibility with newer Wyze models.
