lots of folks try trackball mouses for a few minutes then give up

Have a co-worker that complained about possible carpal tunnel. Got them a ergonomic keyboard, trackball and a vertical mouse for them to try. They gave up and went back to the old keyboard/mouse within 2 days.

not sure about how my right thumb feels about going circular motion with the blue ball all day long. The friction may cause the skin from the tip of the thumb to peal if used without tubular gauze.

Been a while but I used to have the Logitech one with the ball in the middle, finger activated with side buttons. They don't make it any more but Kensington has something similar. I tried one of these thumb jobs and just couldn't do it. And that's for work stuff, forget about gaming

I'm pretty sure I bought the one I'm currently using when I first started at this company ~ 5 yrs ago. No complaints.
I also have one and the right click stopped working. The only way to permanently fix the issue is to replace the micro switch by unsoldering and soldering a new micro switch. I would highly advise people attempt the method since a broken mouse is not going to be more broken if you mess up. It is a very simple process even if you're inexperienced with soldering. A cheap $10 soldering iron can do the trick and is what I typically use

I used to get Logitech trackballs.

Until I found they only lasted about 1.5 years of medium use - the button switch on the left click seems to just die after a shockingly small amount of use.

You can clean it, but it doesn't last that much longer.

I ended up getting a copycat product, and that's lasted for years.

Which confuses me still - their desktop mice seem a lot more reliable across time, but for at least a decade where I've tried them, their trackball click switches have been profoundly unreliable. Had to keep fixing and replacing them, practically every year.

I had a similar dead switch on my Mx Ergo, but these are using the new silent switches.

The issue with the original switch is supposedly corrosion from sweat; I'm not sure if it's fixed with the new version.

Several months ago, I picked up an MX Ergo S on sale with these same new switches, and it's amazingly quiet. I will see how long it lasts.

Sold as used, like new and comes in the original box. I received a mouse in a clear plastic bag, no box, paperwork or battery door cover. Returned.

I haven't had this issue yet - but I am aware of Logitech mice having those issues sooner or later. I only wfh one day a week so I'd say 4-5yrs of medium use is still worth it when I got it (not on sale). Definitely worth this sale price IMO.
