I decided to honor the mass blackout [themassblackout.com] but it wasn't exactly difficult. When I first read about it, they said don't buy ANYTHING 11/25-12/2 so my gas tanks, freezer & fridge are filled. THEN they said no major retailers, now it seems to be down to a few.
So I guess I can go to local supermarket chains for their loss leader offers that end 12/2. And since I'll pass a CVS, spend my ECB expiring 12/5 rather than make a 2nd trip.
TG was pretty tiring. Five of us, DH & I the only ones under 80. I cooked everything Wednesday and my broken arms/shoulders still are healing so they got pretty sore. Spatchcocked the bird EXCEPT the breast, which I put in a crockpot. Carved it all up before transporting to MIL's house with yam, apple pie and Bob Evan's potatoes (the only edible potato I ever made was baked). Reheated turkey was okay, or maybe old taste buds can't tell the difference.
Had to deal with MIL's frozen peas & carrots, and Auntie made gravy.
I also baked other stuff since I had the oven on for hours so I had a pile of clean up, still need to attend to the floor and cupboards, where I tend to splash things. Blame it on the wonky arms.
Now I need to bake & freeze casseroles with leftovers, and DH ate ALL the cookies I made so another round of baking! Whee, I think going to CVS to get free stuff on 4 cards was a bit more fun, but this will do.
Happy holiday season, and may you all find ways to incorporate joy.

Sorry to hear about your arms/shoulders problems. Ouch.
I was tired just making the meal and eating it at home; I can't imagine having to transport it all someplace else. I would have probably given up.
I haven't baked any cookies yet or hubby would have probably eaten them all too. Now that's it cold outside, I'll be able to store the boxed cookies out on the deck inside of a large Rubbermaid bin. Don't plan to make too many this year. Asked each of the guys their favorites so will definitely do those - peanut butter blossoms, peppermint meringues, and chocolate chip. And I always make a huge batch of chex mix. I'll go from there if I still have any energy left, lol.
Have a good weekend.

I'm not good at making pretty desserts so I focus on taste!
I fell in July, put my arms up to protect my head (which the doctors say was the BEST scenario) but dislocated the shoulders & broke the humerus. I only felt immediate pain in the left one, and had it treated in ER. I broke the very head of the left humerus which they couldn't cast. The dislocation slipped back into place while they were putting my arm into position for the xrays.
I just had a sling.
The right arm must have had loosened ligaments or something, it didn't go out until I tried to reach. First time was trying to wash my hair in the shower and I was able to roll my shoulder until it went back in. The next day, I tried to reach for something in an upper cupboard and it went out of the socket. I laid it on the kitchen counter and eventually was able to get it to pop back in but I really bruised/stretched the ligaments so it hurt more than the one in the sling for a while. But I COULD use it, if I operated like a T-Rex ,keeping my elbows tucked in and bearing weight with my forearms.
The worst was hygiene & not being able to get my arms up to brush my hair. I wore a turban thingy for 2 months, and thought I may have to cut it all off due to the tangles.
I had a very difficult time with insurance and clerical errors from my doc's office to get CT scans. I finally got them done end of August and found out after that that there is a fracture in the right humerus, too.
Orthopedic doc said humerus breaks take 6mo to fully heal. He said my left arm is permanently damaged, I dislocated that shoulder about a decade ago & some muscles detached and have atrophied. There's no fixing that, but other muscles can compensate. It will be weak & if I get full range back it will hurt when fully extended. Which is fine, the alternative is surgery & he said shoulder surgery is prone to infection. I see him again after PT is done.
I've been doing PT for about a month. One of my "homework" app exercises indicates using dumbbells but doesn't specify the weight. DH has 4lb ones and I think they were too much so I've had more pain lately. I know PT might create discomfort but the pain is in the same area as the break/fracture so Ive taken a couple of days off and not using dumbbells anymore. I hope I'm not cheating, next in-person PT is next week. It's not close by but takes my insurance so I have to sit in traffic If I can't get an appointment between 11am-2pm. But they're opening a new office close to my house 12/8!!
There's TMI, I'm sure. I'm not good at short stories! TYVM for asking, and hope all is well with you

I thought I wrote about it on this thread, but my post history doesn't have it. Sorry, I know I mentioned it somewhere on SD..

I can't take Vicodin so they gave me some amped up Advil. I only took it the first day.
Icing it was much better at pain relief in the first two months.
Now I just go with it, it mostly bothers me when I try to lay down and roll on my side (weight on one arm) so sometimes I sleep propped up.

Paradise - yes but I didn't like the last episode
Fargo - yes but only if you're a Billy Bob Thornton fan (questionable morality, unlikeable characters, and plot holes)
Handmaid's Tale - maybe on season 1 (very weird and a lot of it didn't make sense), no on season 2
The Killing - no (although the 2 detectives are good)
Superstore - yes, you'll crack up
Abbott Elementary - loved it
Justified - yes
