Find a reputable place to have your oil changed. Jiffy Lube has a reputation of not even changing the oil when they "service" your vehicle. Old article, but they still pull the same scam nationwide. https://www.nbclosangeles.com/new...s/2060915/

While at Costco, use their free wifi to look up your cars oil specs and put a box of synthetic Kirkland oil in your cart and walk past the gift card display. Stop at walmart on the way home and pickup a pair of ramps, oil filter, and oil filter wrench (assuming you have a wrench at home for the drain plug). All of that should be around the same price if not a small bit more. Then going forward, you can do your own oil changes with premium oil for much cheaper than Jippy Lube. Look up instructional videos on YouTube if you're not sure.

Good discount. But jiffy lube tries too hard to upsell other services. Prefer Valvoline Instant Oil Change outlets.

I hear you, I can also mow my own lawn, clean my own house, wash my own car. It's the convenience factor of not having to do it yourself that you're paying for. Should we yes, but do we really want to, no.

They use the cheapest oil and filter on your car, so yes thats what you're paying for, and thatz's IF they do the job correctly.. Now here's the question - how do you know if they are doing job correctly? There are countless stories of places like Jippy Lube messing up customer's splash guards, losing screws for the splash guards, stripping screws, or even worse, stripping the drain plug, under filling or over filling oil, etc. There are even stories of them not doing an oil change at all.

Now, am I saying that will happen to you? No, not necessarily. What I am saying is that by doing it yourself, you get the satisfaction of knowing he job was done correctly with premium oil and quality filter. It's peace of mind for what is for most people our second most expensive purchase.
