This refurbished Dell UltraSharp 40 inch 5K2K curved Thunderbolt hub monitor stands out for its huge workspace, 120 hertz smoothness, and built in KVM for easy Mac and Windows switching with one keyboard and mouse. The panel is praised as excellent, and the lower pixel density versus a 27 inch 5K display still feels fine for a single monitor setup. Refurbished units often arrive looking nearly brand new, though the 90 day warranty and nonrepairable status add risk. Thunderbolt and USB C connectivity can be finicky on some units, and a proper Thunderbolt 4 cable may be needed for MacBook Pro use.
Common Questions (5)
It can work, but some units need the latest firmware and the correct USB-C port on the monitor side. A separate Thunderbolt 4 cable may be necessary for proper MacBook Pro tethering, and some units still fail over USB-C while HDMI works.
It can arrive looking nearly brand new, with the box, monitor, and cables in excellent shape. Packaging may vary, though, and some units come in a brown Dell box with generic accessories instead of retail packaging.
The PPI is lower than the Apple Studio Display and other 27-inch 5K monitors, but the larger 40-inch ultrawide layout gives much more room for a single-monitor setup. It is also noticeably smoother than 60Hz displays thanks to the 120Hz panel.
The outlet refurb comes with a 90-day warranty, and the monitor itself cannot be repaired. The savings are about $600 versus market price, so the tradeoff is whether that discount is worth the refurb risk.
Yes. The built-in KVM lets you switch between Mac and Windows machines while keeping the same keyboard and mouse connected.

I know slickdeals is not the Q&A for the technical, but best luck to anyone who received the working condition monitor! Thank you for your help!

Mine didn't come in the retail packaging, just a brown Dell box, but it was packed well. The accessories were generic and only included a standard USB-C cable and not the Thunderbolt 4 cable necessary for proper tethering with a MacBook Pro or other Thunderbolt device. I purchased a TB4 cable on Amazon and the monitor works flawlessly.
