TLDR, at this price, it's hard to beat if you were already in the market for x series body.
I am a deep camera nerd. the X-E5's biggest problem was the price. X-T5 is a better camera and was just a little more expensive than the X-E5. But at this price, it's much more justifiable, esp if you like the range finder style, and the x100 series vibe, but with interchangeable lens mount. X-M5 is also a great option but it doesn't have the IBIS. Think of X-E5 as a premium & IBIS version of X-M5, or an interchangeable lens version of x100. I was originally gonna wait for the next x pro series seeing the MSRP of the X-E5, but at this price, it already does everything I wanted a compact camera to do. The $300 off on a S tier camera that only came out 3 months ago is an amazing deal. Probably happened because the MSRP scared all buyers away initially. If $1399 was the launching MSRP, it would probably be on backorder, kind of like the x100 6 launch.
Community Reviews
The X-E5 is a compact Fujifilm body that stands out for its rangefinder style, interchangeable lens mount, and built in image stabilization. At $1,399, it is framed as much easier to justify than its launch price, especially for anyone already shopping for an X series body or wanting an X100 style feel with more lens flexibility. Greentoe is described as an authorized seller with US warranty registration and tax included in the price. The main caveat is that this is body only, so lens costs still matter, and the price is still high enough that smaller alternatives like the X M5 or X T30 III may fit better if size matters most.
Common Questions (4)
Yes, the listed price is treated as tax included, so there is no extra sales tax added at checkout. That makes the effective savings larger than a simple $300 discount.
Yes. Greentoe is described as an authorized seller, not gray market, and the camera can be registered for warranty in the US normally. The actual seller is revealed only after purchase, but it is still an authorized Fuji seller.
No. This listing is body only, so it does not include the 23mm f/2.8 lens. The deal is mainly attractive if you already want the X-E5 body and plan to choose your own lens.
Small lenses fit the X-E5 best, especially if you want a compact setup. Suggested options include the TTArtisan XF-mount lens with an aperture ring, the Fuji XF 35mm f/2, the XF 18-55mm zoom if you want flexibility, and Viltrox Air series lenses; used XF lenses are preferred over XC lenses.

But I'm also a huge fan of the Fuji XF 35mm f2. The kit lens that comes with the X-T series (XF 18-55mm) is actually a really good lens also if you don't know what focal lengths you shoot most and want a zoom. You can get both of them used in good condition for around $250-300 each. If you do end up looking at the Fuji used market, I would only look at the XF lenses and skip the XC lenses. Fuji's are great because the Fuji lenses offered are very well priced for their optical clarity as compared to most other brands.
One thing I want to mention is XM5. XM5 is smaller and still amazing, as long as you dont need IBIS. XT30iii doesnt have IBIS either so between XM5 and XT30iii, i'd go for the xm5. much cheaper and still does everything you need. If the small size if your biggest priorty, its amazing.
Personally for me, XM5 would've been a perfect camera for me, but I personally need IBIS because I like to capture short video clips + photo, and I only use primes so IBIS gets rid of all the micro shakes. Thats why I got the XE5.
