I don't know why Sony doesn't allow this to be used as multimedia device, which we can only hope someone creating a homebrew so we can run emulators on it.. Otherwise I'm afraid it would just collect dust eventually or be a novelty item for kids if they have fast enough internet they can play their PS5 while traveling?

The hardware and OS on it are VERY barebones.

They just added cloud streaming to them. They aren't going anywhere. If anything, they will get an OLED upgrade soon.
