The Sonos Arc is a premium Dolby Atmos soundbar that stands out for big, immersive sound and easy expansion into a full home theater setup. The white, brand new Gen 1 model is the focus here, not the Arc Ultra, and the price looks especially strong for anyone upgrading from a Beam or skipping the newer model. Pairing it with a Sub, Mini Sub, Era speakers, or Ace headphones gets praised as an ideal late night system. The main drawbacks are the white only finish and reports that calibration can leave the system underwhelming in some rooms. A strong value if the color and setup fit your space.

  • Sonos surround buyers who are pairing multiple Sonos speakers (Arc + mini sub + Era 100s) because commenters reported being very happy with the sound in setups like Arc + mini sub + two Era 100s after grabbing the deal.

  • home theater upgraders who already have a Sonos Beam 1 and want a big step up because commenters said the Arc (gen1) would be a massive upgrade from their gen1 beam.

  • people building a late-night setup who want to watch without disturbing others because one commenter said pairing the Arc with a sub and Ace headphones lets them watch late at night without waking a sleeping family and that the sound quality is amazing.

  • buyers who don't need the newest Arc model because one commenter said they don't need the new model so this is a solid deal.

  • people who are okay with a white-only look in their living room because a commenter said the white would be a major upgrade from their current Beam setup (even though it's white-only).

  • buyers who want a black Sonos Arc at this price because commenters said there is no black option at this price.

  • buyers comparing new vs refurbished Sonos who specifically need a voice assistant microphone because commenters noted the refurbished SL unit lacks a microphone/voice-assistant.

  • people who already have a mixed-color Sonos system and care about matching because one commenter said the white-only option would make their Sonos system look awkward.

  • buyers expecting strong "out of the box" performance without needing to crank volume because one commenter with Arc (not Ultra) + Sub Gen 3 + Era 300s said they were disappointed and had to raise volume to 60+ and still felt the sub wasn't firing.

Too bad there is no black at this price. Looking to upgrade my gen1 beam
I'm curious why people prefer black color than white ?

Is this worth it if you only want to use the Arc and don't want to deal with more speakers everywhere?

SL (the refurbished one) does not have microphone/voice-assistant.

Quote :
Beyond the microphone/voice-assistant difference, there's no major difference in core audio hardware or Atmos support — both are essentially the same "5.0.2 Atmos soundbar" under the hood.

How is this compared to Q990D for $690?
I invested in a Sonos surround sound system few months back. Sonos arc ( not ultra) , sub gen 3 and 2 era 300s. Out of the box and even after calibration I am very disappointed. It's underwhelming. I need to raise the volume to 60+ to enjoy the sound, i don't think the sub is even firing up. And the era 300 sound great but I rarely get any sound from those. I can confirm the source content is 5.1 channel and I am using Apple TV 4K as my streaming device. I don't know if I did something wrong calibrating this or if I am missing something. My comparison is with Samsung HW-Q950A which I bought in 2021. Samsung is mind blowing. I still love it after so many years. It was fantastic out of the box. I don't remember needing to calibrate it. Last night I watched Stranger Things 5 and I continue to be impressed with the Samsung speakers. Unfortunately I am outside the return window for Sonos, still kicking myself for buying this expensive disappointment compared to the Samsung which you can get for under $800. Also note that Sonos is placed in medium sized bedroom.

Thanks. Im torn between the two. I would have bought the Samsung 990D but only concern is how I can place the back speakers. My couch is against the kitchen counter and don't want to make the counter cluttered.

This first gen arc sounds excellent with the two Sonos ones first gen as surround paired with a sub. This is the perfect setup for some reason the pair of era 100s or 300s don't sound as good
