Is this on par with the $129 Ryobi brushless drill-impact driver combo kit from home depot? edit: I noticed it only come with 1 battery
edit 2: and how about comparing it to the dewalt kit for 149?

Post title says batteries (plural) but this kit comes with one battery.

I have many Kobalt 24v tools and am happy with them, though I'd hold out for a 4 amp battery set if this was my entry into the line.

Would skip the Kobalt and go with Milwaukee or Ryobi @ THD. More tools to cross use, better platform.

Good deal. 24V Kobalt has been so aggressive on sales for the past year, I couldn't imagine paying any more than this. Waiting for another "select your own free tool" sale.

I've owned these for the past 5 years and it's not the best. The trigger and battery started glitching after a year.
Sometimes the light just starts blinking randomly, meaning you can't use it at all. It's a well documented problem.
Might be good for super casual use (which is what I use it for) but better buying a different brand.

I had a similar experience but got more use out of them. Managed to finish a basement and build a small deck before the impact driver started giving me the flashing light. Good tools while they lasted though.

I don't have Ryobi, but do have this and it does the job. I have, however, tested both and went with Kobalt as it felt stronger. 11 years in, dropped, banged up and still running. I recently upgrade my whole garage to Milwaukee.
