That's true, but they are still brushless. Not the ratchet though—that's brushed

I'd try to start with the end in mind if you can. If you just need to do basic DIY stuff these are great. If you plan on expanding into more tools to do "bigger" types of projects this line will limit the tool options, and tend to be fairly expensive beyond the first combo kit.

The 18v lines have much more tools options, but are bigger and heavier. All depends on the need.

Some people don't care about different battery lines, but I try to stick with one so I don't need multiple chargers and have to match tool to battery to job.

Perhaps check again?!?

If you are buying a house or plan to do work yourself I would highly recommend going up to the FUEL line. My M12 Fuel set has be my companion for all my household needs for 8 years and going strong. Almost wanted more power doing some outdoor decking, (treated wood) work but was doable with a m12 FUEL. Your pick if you need this for your needs.

Probably yes.I have the m12 fuel version of the drill and driver among other things and it's plenty. These pack a major punch for being 12v. Saws are probably the only thing not great for m12, but I mostly use corded saws.

But I'd probably hold out for the fuel version. And skip the ratchet unless you really need. I have the ratchet, it's good, but I don't think a tool you need to add unless your use requires it. It's only like 35lbs of torque, so not going to be pulling off lug nuts, but it's good for some projects.

This should be plenty for a new homeowner. The fuel versions are great but a bit bigger. I chose these because they are smaller and lighter which I find handy for homeowner use. Unless you're driving structural or big deck screws all day you're good with these.

Aha! So you want to add directly to the cart - do NOT choose "view full product details."

If you view full product details, then this combo kit is inexplicably not an option. So, again, do NOT view the product details, just add directly to your cart. Hope this helps!

As has been said, and I'll reiterate ....this version of the ratchet you'll use MUCH more. My #1 fave tool and I bought this just to sell on facebook beacuse its a crazy crazy deal.
