Wow instant buy at that price. It's a refurb, but I know how to tinker with Creality machines already. If you don't want to tinker, this might not be the deal for you. Maybe look for Bambu or Flashforge sales.

What kind of tinkering? I'm a good tinkerer but is this a decent 1st 3D printer?

Personally I'd go with a set and forget printer to start and have fun modeling and actually printing things.

Id say if you like to tinker this is a good second printer. Then you can use your reliable workhorse to print replacement parts and mods for your project creality, heh.

It's a fine first printer if you want to mess around with the printer sometimes. If you get a dud or get tired of messing around fixing printing problems, get a fancier printer later. At $111 it's almost worth it for the parts.

I paid more than this for a Creality Ender 3v2 in 2020 and I used that printer for years. I got my money worth, plus a lot, out of that Ender before replacing it with an X1C.

I'll never recover the price of the X1C but that cheap Ender convinced me that a 3D printer was an indispensable tool for my workshop.

Set and forget. As in something that just works and will work for thousands of hours. Personally I'd recommend Bambu, Prusa, and to some degree Flashforge.

They're pricier, but other brands require maintenance and mods that these usually don't. They print great out the box. $399 for a Bambu P1S is a great starter printer.

Yeah. It's moreso that many people who say they love to tinker don't really love to do this kind of tinkering. Spending hours trying to figure out why adhesion isn't working, when in the end the bed is just warped out the gate is not a fun time tinkering.

Dang good price but I wonder if the enclosed K1 for a bit more makes sense.

BTW, having had both a Flashforge 5M and now a K1max from this seller (refurb). Both have been largely print and forget. The FF has probably been easier but the difference is small. Neither are anything like older Ender 3 Pro or V2 models.

Depends. For PLA and figurines this is crazy for $100. For ABS, yeah, you want the enclosure.

What does enclosure do? Where do the toxic fumes go?

Enclosure isn't for the fumes, it's to have warmer air surrounding the print and to prevent air drafts. If ABS cools too much it'll warp off the plate. You will still need to have a room with great ventilation or an exhaust fan of some sort for the fumes.

The enclosure is stop the print from cooling down. If ABS cools too much it'll warp and ruin the print. Enclosure help a lot with this issue. Heated chambers are even better. The enclosure will do nothing to prevent fumes. You still want a room with a ton of ventilation or exhaust fan.
