The K1 SE is a fast Core XY printer that can feel close to plug and play for PLA, with auto leveling, input shaping, and strong out of the box speed for the price. The enclosure version is better suited to ABS because it helps keep warm air around the print and reduce warping, though it does not handle fumes, so ventilation still matters. The refurb angle is the main risk, since some units arrive dusty or need small fixes, while others print flawlessly after a quick setup. A solid low cost pick if you are comfortable checking a refurb.

The nice thing about the market is a lot of printers are really reliable these days. Bambu is good. So are printers like this one. The P2S is what, 4-5x the price of this printer deal? Yeah, not apples to apples since this is a refurb etc but damn, $111 is not the same as $500+ and this isn't an Ender 3Pro. I would have more sympathy if you said get the Flashforge 5M since, with recent sales, that's at least ball park similar and, like the Bambu, it's a printer that just works. Wink

Like Apple, it just works.

Like Apple, you can often get something that works just as well and has additional features (some that Apple doesn't even offer) for less if you look around Wink

That and Apple is getting rather bad about closed eco system etc. Also, if someone says they have $500 to spend on a Laptop there are basically no Apple options. If someone says they want to say under $200 the A1 mini is the only option (at $199). It's a very compromised option.

Exactly. It's important to remember that little issues like that, which aren't a big deal for you and me, are a HUGE deal for many others. They either don't have the technical ability, or simply don't have the time, to diagnose a simple problem like that. For them, a missing grommet is a showstopping issue that makes their new printer a brick. So I tend to emphasize that printers like these are "for tinkerers" when talking about them, just to err on the safe side and help people avoid having a bad experience.
Ok, I'm in solid on this, I bought a camera for it, LOL. Hope it works.

F it, I'm in. There's 6 left, fyi, y'all.
Hopefully I actually use this one. I bought a resin printer a few years ago, and never got to it, so I sold it last year.

Don't forget to get the AI camera also. Its plug and play with error detection and time-lapse. Ebay had it for $11 with the coupon.

OK got it in and you were spot on. Printed the Benchy perfectly and also another test file that deals with speed. Then I started to print a simple Creality tray. First layer looked horrible so I thought, let me clean the plate really well and see if it had oil on it or something. Nope that wasn't it. The offset looks too low so I adjusted it and got it decent but it seems like the bed leveling wasn't quite right. So I thought well maybe it's got a nozzle clog or it's loose, or something like that. I had an extra unicorn nozzle for my other K-1. So I take this one off and it's not a unicorn nozzle and I'm like WTF? I dug into it more. Oh yes it was a unicorn nozzle and it snapped off and the neck of it was lodged in the heat sink. So after 2 1/2 hours of tinkering, I tapped the stuck neck out of the heatsink and was able to put the new unicorn nozzle in. But in my haste because I was trying to do it before I had to go to bed, I got melted filament in the extruder. That one's on me so tomorrow, I will have to take it apart and clean it out because it's clicking and I know it's jammed full of filament. OK it cost me my time and a new unicorn nozzle, oh and the adapter thing that holds the nozzle to the heatsink was loose, so I would definitely go through it and make sure everything's tight under there. But all in all still a good deal and I know I'll be able to get it running fine again. The more I think about it I think the reason why that first layer looked like crap was because of that loose nozzle. There's a bracket that holds it to the heat sink and it has two small hex screws that secure it and there was play in mine even when it was tightened it's hard to explain you'd have to look at it, lol.

Update: I got a good one (so far).

Mine was pretty dusty, had some scratches on the bed, and a disconnected bowden tube that I easily popped back in. Those were the only issues that I could see. And now it has cranked out four prints that I'm very happy with. I see some slight ghosting/ringing on vertical walls that I want to get rid of, but it's minor. I suspect that I can get it to go away just by slowing down a bit, and I'm also seeing people on forums say I should turn off the "arc configure" setting in the slicer.

Also, hot DAMN this thing prints fast. I already bought the AI camera upgrade, found one on eBay for $13. Add that to the $111 printer purchase, and this will be the best $124 that I've ever spent. I probably won't bother upgrading to an enclosure unless I decide to print ABS/Nylon one day.

Recieved mine today. And I'm not even going tp try to print with it.
One foot won't lay flat. There is filament residue on the end of the nozzle. Bowden tube disconnected. Nozzle clear tool has burnt filament residue on it. Screen has fingerprints/smudges. Pet hair on snipping tool. No instructions for assembly. And the protective packaging foam was just kind of tossed in the box. No USB drive.

I have requested a return.
