lol. They are probably the most ethical retailer around.

Want a loophole? Get a friend to buy you some Costco gift cards, smallest available denomination (which used to be $25 per card). Your gift card is now your entry pass. When you want to buy something, show the checkout person and ask them to ring you up as a non-member (used to be member 99). Pay using your card and they'll let you use a different card to pay the remainder.

It is a members only club... how else are they supposed to verify your membership?

They are great. It's a fun little addition to the car collecting hobby.

When you check out you have to have a card
Non members abused self checkout by borrowing members cards.

The protein powders are no longer on sale. Why oh why on BF would they take the discount off?
I noticed the discount on one of the items I wanted disappeared ($25 off, valid 11/27-12/1) and was replaced by this offer. I'm super disappointed.

Can't stand Costco. Hate the way they throw an absolute fit over showing your card to get in.

I don't know how it is where you live but here in Long Island City the Costco food court is separate from the store and doesn't require card to enter. It is constantly swamped by lowlives who are abusing the cheap meals and hanging out there for hours. Regular Costco customers have to wait in long lines to pick up order and the have nowhere to sit and eat it because local "youth gangs" are taking up all the tables.I cannot imagine these people would be allowed inside the store without membership where they would open packages and eat what they want and then steal some stuff and just bolt off.I am very glad they require card scan at the entrance.
Soon will kick them out with policy change

I'm pretty sure they also don't need non members walking all around the cub if they can help it (of course there are ways around this). Some clubs are crowded as it is. Walking around the store is just as painful as checking out on some days.

So someone can freak out at the register, refuse to pay for membership, hold the line and make the employees waste time putping stuff back on the shelves?
Yes, that makes sense... Rolleyes

True, but scanning at the door won't change that. It's just slows down the mass crowd flow. I miss the days (joined 20 years ago) where I could just walk in and not deal with the intensity of the crowd dynamics today.

On that note, I'm off to Costco.

Thanks OP.
