LG's 45 inch UltraGear 45GX950A-B stands out as a premium OLED gaming and media monitor, with 5120 by 2160 resolution, 165 hertz at full resolution, and a 330 hertz full HD mode. The 800R curve, glossy OLED panel, and strong HDR brightness make it feel immersive, and the display is described as exceptional enough to justify even a much higher launch price. The main tradeoffs are the very aggressive curve and limited productivity appeal, especially for office use. It also needs serious graphics power to drive it well, and there are isolated reports of dead on arrival units.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes, the 20% Cyber Week cashback can work on this monitor and brings the effective price to about $960 before tax. The offer appears to require regular PayPal checkout or Pay Later/Pay in 4 with the promo already saved or activated in PayPal Rewards.

  • A common path is $1,499.99 minus coupon CYBERWEEK20 to $1,199.99 with free shipping, then PayPal cashback can drop it further to $960 or even about $897.49 when stacked with an LG member-store coupon. The cashback is capped at $250, so the full 20% only applies up to $1,250 of spend.

  • It can be used for productivity, but the 800R curve is a major drawback for some office setups. The 45-inch size and 5120x2160 resolution are praised for gaming and media, while the curve is considered too aggressive for long productivity sessions.

  • Yes. The panel is glossy, and the 800R curvature is repeatedly called very aggressive, which can be a dealbreaker if you want a flatter screen for office use.

  • It is described as a top-tier gaming monitor, but it is demanding to run at full quality. A 5080 is suggested as the minimum to drive it well, and even a 5090 may not max it out; FSR can help in supported games.

I have a 9070 XT AMD GPU. Can it handle this monitor, or would I be wasting my money?

What's interesting is that I had the Pay in 4 option -- attempted it and got denied with a follow-up email saying that the amount requested was too high (Wutheheck?! I have excellent credit.). Anyway, I no longer see that option on my checkout screen. 😑
Fascinating, I've re-linked a card in the pay later section in PayPal, refreshed, and tried a few other things, but I just can't get it to appear. I guess it's not working anymore. Such a bummer.

It's been said to death, but in case you haven't seen - use the paypal 20% deal to get it to 960 (not including tax)!
I was not aware of this until I saw your comment. Saved me $240. You're doing the Lord's work.

Depends what you're playing, but with FSR you will be fine.

Been eyeing this for a while so finally snagged one! Likely to be the lowest price for some time, especially if you took advantage of the PayPal Pay Later 20% cashback offer like I did.

I can't use pay later option in PayPal. It didn't let me add any credit card. Any idea?
