How it works
  1. Save this offer
  2. Shop Apparel and check out with PayPal
  3. Get 20% cash back on your purchase up to $20 (2,000pts)
Max of 50k rewards available (worth up to 2,000 points/$20.00)
Offer expires 12/1/25 11:59 PM PST or until we reach max rewards available, whichever comes first

Merchants in this category primarily sell apparel. Purchases made at discount stores, department stores, sporting good stores, and shoe stores may qualify.

The category is vague but it should work at most places like Nike, Dick's Sporting Goods, Footlocker, Nordstrom, Macy's, lululemon, Kohl's, and so on.

I've even seen instances of PayPal debit cash back rewarding the "apparel" category for purchases at eBay even when the purchases were not specifically apparel.

So it's probably worth activating the offer and using PayPal for shopping you might do anyway.

Might even be worth waiting till December 1 (expiration date of promo) and getting an additional 5% cash back for using Chase credit.

I think it's more like $100 worth after coupons and taxes.

And probably not even just clothes, but merchandise at apparel stores. Plenty of these department stores sell items that aren't clothing, like kitchenware, electronics, toys, and so. A place like Kohl's for instance.

So potentially pretty good for places if there's coupons you can stack. PayPal won't know what coupons you're using and what taxes you're paying. You'll just get rewards based on what you spend.

You could probably get away with buying a gift card for a merchant too. Haven't tried yet. I will wait to see what sales pop up.

lol, does it say that somewhere? Or did I make a typo somewhere?

I have "Max of 50k rewards available", not 50k points, meaning this promotion will pay out $1,000,000.

I doubt it. It fully depends on what PayPal categorizes the transaction as.

It may be weird, but if somehow it codes as Department Store then it would. I've read instances of Walmart coding as MCC Grocery Store/Supermarket and people getting cash back for the Groceries category. I've also seen Target coding as MCC Department Stores, so then that MIGHT qualify for this promotion. Also, again, I've seen eBay with MCC Department Stores, that might qualify.

It's just vague and PayPal doesn't really disclose how specific merchant transactions will categorize. Kind of annoying.

Nice! Good for you.

I have this offer in my PayPal account and saved it, before making a purchase at Kohls (made sure the order only has clothes) earlier this morning, but no pending points in my PayPal account. I see the a pending charge/authorization in my PayPal account though.

I had this offer and was surprised it seemed to work on an apple watch purchase from Walmart. I see the points pending so assuming it will go thru.

Is Paypal marketing run by interns? Always super vague and confusing terms. Wtf is 50k rewards available? $50k?
