I am thinking that anything that gets me to *read more*, even marginally, it's gonna be worth five bucks. I have 100s of books, non-fiction and novels, and yeah, I want to decrease that friction and get off the farking Internet a bit more.

Why do they make a remote control for something already in your hands? That's like having a remote for my phone.
Have you actually tried it? Is one of those things that seems silly until you have one and use it daily. If you are a casual reader, prob won't see the use of it. Anything to reduce the friction and ease the use of e-readers is quite nice. This is also good for people with accessibility needs or wrist issues. Is like those temp controlled Ember mugs, prolonging a cup of warm coffee in the morning has its unique utility that some people may find helpful. That being said, I like the Kobo remote better, connects bluetooth, forward and back buttons, no attachment required.

I still don't get it. If it's already in your hands, what's the point of having a separate remote to touch the screen. It seems like more work than just touching the display on the kindle to turn the page. The only way I find this possibly useful is if you have the kindle on a mount, so that its not in your hands, but how many people really use their kindle like that?

It's not always in my hands. I prop my kindle against a pillow in bed. I lean it against the wall in the bath. People read differently than you. Now go demonstrate your complete inability to imagine something being useful to people besides yourself by crapping on somebody else's thread.

People on the Internet just like to be annoying. I have a kindle - I hold it, but so.eyimes in bed I just want to prop it up while I'm covered up.

It's designed for avid readers. I thought the same at first, but some people like to be tucked into the coziest setup possible, and having to constantly touch a device to turn the page can ruin that comfort. The closest example I can think of is using a laptop in bed, positioned to the side while you're wrapped in blankets. Every time you need to make an adjustment, you have to shift out of your cozy cocoon, which can get annoying if it happens repeatedly. I'm not that type of reader, so it took me a while to actually see the value of it and how it's a QoL tool.

It's hard to do , but I find that audibooks, listened to on walks or in the car, really help me get into a book, and then I continue reading at home.
