This Sonos Arc Ultra, Sub 4, and Era 300 bundle is a premium home theater setup that stands out for easy expansion, strong Atmos movie playback, and solid music performance. The wireless speakers, built in amplification, and room grouping make it simple to deploy without a receiver, and the Era 300s add flexibility for surround effects and whole home audio. The main hesitation is value, since Costco and other pricing comparisons narrow the savings, and some prefer Samsung Q990F or Q990D systems for better bang for the buck. It is a strong fit if convenience and Sonos integration matter more than chasing the lowest price.

Sonos is the 2020's version of 1990's Bose
lol to be fair soundbars have made big strides to this point.

TBH the two big hurls they need to figure out is content quality & low bass frequency.
Algorithms can be very useful with SQ, just look at Room Correction as an example.

It all starts with content, until that's figured out, physical changes are moot ime.

The Sony Bravia Quad and Nakamichi Shockwafe 11.2.6 are both better than the Samsung Q990F
Not in my opinion at all. Rtings also has the Samsung rated as best overall

Rtings has the Samsung rated higher in their comparison. For what it's worth. What would you consider better about the Sonos setup?
Subwoofer, the Sonos is excellent at all volume levels the Samsung at high volume the subwoofer is not as tight.

Appreciate the info. I went with the 990D and for 1/3rd the price. Super happy with the sound, it's night at day from my old soundbar. Anyone one the fence, do it! Of course I had to upgrade my TV as well to match.

I have this setup but bought them all separately. I'm pretty pleased with it. With the regular arc the era 300s overpower the bar. With the arc ultra the bar slightly overpowers the 300s.

I'm happy with it overall and the 300s can be very good with surround sound. They're also
Great music speakers.

Is there a reason to buy this with Era 300s for rear speakers? That's seems like incredible overkill. I'd think Era 100s for just doing some rear speaker work would be plentiful. Am I missing something?

Imagine spending this much for a wireless sound system. LOL
For movies and streaming Atmos, a $2k Sonos Arc Ultra + Sub + Era 300 kit is moving the same Dolby Atmos bitstreams as a $2k AVR, just over a dedicated 5 GHz link instead of speaker wire. Sonos supports lossless Dolby TrueHD Atmos over eARC and up to 24-bit/48 kHz audio in a simpler package. At this point, room acoustics and speaker design matter way more than whether the last few feet are copper or Wi-Fi.

This. Especially, after their app debacle. The hardware is pretty good, but being heavily reliant on an app/software for a lot of functionality should get you to think, especially considering the price.

fyi sonos doesn't support DTS audio codecs. if you get this anyway, the workaround is to set your player to output multichannel pcm. but then if you watch dolby audio content, you have to switch your player back to bitstream.
