While I've seen videos, I'd love to be able to play one of these... most acoustic basses I've seen sound sadly thin. As an aside, I've an electric "bass ukulele" that produces sounds not unlike an upright bass (yes, I'd love to have an upright bass) - and it sounds nice as an acoustic, too.

I've never been disappointed by an Ibanez guitar or bass. Even the "beginner" stuff I've owned was still well made for the price point. I agree with previous post, I'd have reservations about the tone of an acoustic bass (made by anyone). But that price, how bad could it be?

I bought the PNB14E (Open Pore) model 2 years ago, and can report that the Ibanez acoustic basses sound Great.

Bought this same deal in September. Great bass for $180. Onboard tuner and pre-amp. It's not bad.

I've had this bass for @ 7 years (paid retail at a local shop). It's my go-to for home practice. It's nice to be able to pick it up and just play without plugging in. Most acoustic basses are HUGE (for volume). This one is sized like a "normal" acoustic guitar. So it's not very loud. Just loud enough to play along with a home radio or Youtube video. It won't hold up to accompanying more than one acoustic guitar, if that. When I play it at small parties with others (campfires, etc.) I bring my little battery-powered Roland Micro Cube amp. Works great. I have tape-wound strings on mine. The fret edges are little rough but they haven't bothered me enough to finish them. I'd like to have a hard case for it but haven't been able to find one it fits. :-(
I'd buy it again if something happened to this one.

Agreed. Every Ibanez acoustic instrument I've ever owned or played (and I've owned several) has greatly out-punted its price point in quality, sound and playability.

Not sure why there's no "Give rep" button for me to click below your name, but this is great info!

All 3 of my basses are Ibanez. The Talmans punch well above their price class.
