does gopro pigeonhole you into using their servers and sofware for the 360 model? on the insta360 you cant even use the product without registering it and uploading everything you record.
This is a much better deal than what is implied.
You get about $170 in accessories, for a price that's better than the Black Friday price of the camera alone on the GoPro website.
For the same exact deal on the GoPro website (for BF/CM) you will spend about $110 + tax more right now on the GoPro website.

I just got an insta360 x5. You have to register to use their app, but you can use the app to download from Cam to your phone without cloud, then edit and export to flat on your phone also.
I haven't tried to pull the sd-card and pull files directly to my computer. However, a I'm sure there is a path there if you really want to go that route.
I myself am past the days of using third party software to do things the long way around. I'm willing to create a free account with them to use the app and offer it for free.
Desktop app I've yet to explore, but quick search shows you can use USB to transfer files without cloud.
So what's you're info source for what you wrote?

me. i am the source. i bought an insta360, couldnt use the camera at all without registering it first, and then you couldnt get 360 video unless you used their servers.
so my question is still does gopro make their product in a way that you can get 360 video without uploading your life reportcard and then every video you make.
i too am past taking the long way around, now i just dont give my money to the companies which force that scenario. hence my question.

Sadly I can't answer the Go Pro question. But I can tell you that after registering for an account to use the app you can take footage directly from the SDCard on insta360 to your PC and edit in the studio without uploading video to the cloud. Verified since last post.
As crappy as companies are getting with their desire to make everyone register, these two big shots would really be alienating a segment of their "more pro" crowd by forcing everything through the cloud. That's just not performant enough for heavy hitter users with a lot of footage and large files.
I'll let you do the verification, but I'd be really surprised. No one else seems to be chiming in.
