Lowest price I've found if you're thinking of upgrading the Galaxy Watch. Trading in the 7 gets you $250 off original price, 6 is $225 and it just goes down the older the model. I've been hoping Samsung would replicate the deal from last year but it doesn't look like it will happen.

Edited to reference the promo last year, IYKYK:

Editing to add, an employer OR education offer program shaves off another $10, making the price $89.99

The Galaxy Watch8 40mm is being framed as a modest upgrade best for speed and a brighter screen, but the trade in promo is the real story here. The Watch 7 and even the Watch 4 line are described as feeling much faster in everyday use, with less lag when opening apps and switching screens. The main drawback is the trade in math, which is repeatedly described as confusing because the sale price can disappear at checkout and the effective discount looks far smaller than advertised. The squircle design also draws criticism for looking bulkier and less appealing, making this feel like a limited upgrade unless the pricing works out.

  • Watch 4 owners wanting a much snappier everyday smartwatch, because app loading and screen switching feel dramatically faster on the newer watch.

  • Watch 7 owners who mainly want a newer design, because the newer watch keeps the same CPU but changes the look and adds a slightly brighter screen.

  • Shoppers who value a straightforward trade-in process, because trade credits can apply at payment time and manual approval can fix occasional credit issues.

  • Watch 7 owners who are happy with their current watch, because the newer model keeps the same CPU and the upgrade can feel like paying a lot for little change.

  • Buyers expecting the trade-in value to stack cleanly on top of the sale price, because the sale price can be removed at checkout and the final cost stays much higher than it first appears.

  • People who want a hassle-free trade-in, because credits can be slow and the watch may be denied if the reset is not accepted.

  • Shoppers who want a cleaner, slimmer-looking watch, because the newer design is described as bulkier and less attractive.

I also recommend keeping your Watch 7 - got a good deal last year.

If you haven't upgraded to One UI 8 on it, DONT - it's crippleware which is being pushed out this month starting several weeks ago...

Why would I waste my 100 dollars and trade my watch 7 which is amazing! Terrible deal. If it was 25 to 30 bucks after tradein (like it was when I traded 6 to get our watch 7s), then that would be a DEAL.
PASS!

Last time I traded in my S6 they said my watch wasn't reset correctly and denied my trade in. I know i reset my watch before sending it in. I chat with rep and they said she make an exception as a courtesy. What bunch of bs.

I hate how they do this. The list the 44M for sale for $279. They show you a trade in value for a Watch 7 of $250, so you think "hey, $30 for an upgrade", nope. If you go to trade in a watch 7, they remove the sale price and it goes back to regular price, with the $250 trade in and it still costs $129. They do this with phones too, very frustrating.
So you think they should sell you a new watch for $30 with a trade-in used watch that's worth $100 (being generous)? How would they make any money? 🤣

This is stupid. If you want to trade in, the price goes back up to $349?
Why don't they say if you trade in, you get $100 trade-in value? (instead of $250)

Is it worth the upgrade?
Watch 8 is one ugly watch - they expanded the border to try to copy Apple's square design, while keeping the watch face circle. So essentially you end up with a bulkier watch without any benefit. What are they thinking? I won't get it unless it's free.

Not remotely what I said. You advertise a sale price $100 off the watch, then display a trade in value of $250. Then, the sale price is removed and the actual trade in value is $150 instead of $250. Seems like deceptive pricing practices to me. Just say the sale price is $279, and the trade in value is $150. At least then I don't feel lied to.

Given how ugly they made the design and how little changed (other than the ugly) I would never trade

Man last year's deal was something else! Hopefully they replicate it somehow
I took advantage of that epic sale. I did some crazy maneuvers.

1. Traded a Fitbit versa 2 for a watch 6 44mm for $52.49.

2. Traded that watch 6 for a the watch 7 40mm for $2.60.

3. I already had a watch 6 44mm which I traded for a watch 7 44mm BT unit for $52.49.

Maybe a week or so later the watch 7 44mm lte went on sale so I returned the watch 7 44mm BT and exchanged my watch 6 for that one for $47.48 (cheaper than the prior weeks BT watch).

I sold the 40mm watch 7 on eBay for maybe like $170 or so. I forget.

So now I'm down to just my watch 7 44mm lte for $47.48 right? Well about a month later I got a package I wasn't expecting. It was the watch 7 44mm BT I returned a month ago, but no band. Turns out when I processed the return they only added the band to the return. Not the watch. But they had processed a full refund. So I already was refunded for quite awhile and got my watch back because it technically was not part of the return. Kept it as a spare.

I've done several Samsung trades, never had major issues, but they can be slow crediting you. Always recommend to take a quick video of you doing the reset, pics of the condition and IMEI just in case they have some bogus reason for declining it.
