Lowest price I've found if you're thinking of upgrading the Galaxy Watch. Trading in the 7 gets you $250 off original price, 6 is $225 and it just goes down the older the model. I've been hoping Samsung would replicate the deal from last year but it doesn't look like it will happen.

Edited to reference the promo last year, IYKYK:

Editing to add, an employer OR education offer program shaves off another $10, making the price $89.99

The Galaxy Watch8 40mm is being framed as a modest upgrade best for speed and a brighter screen, but the trade in promo is the real story here. The Watch 7 and even the Watch 4 line are described as feeling much faster in everyday use, with less lag when opening apps and switching screens. The main drawback is the trade in math, which is repeatedly described as confusing because the sale price can disappear at checkout and the effective discount looks far smaller than advertised. The squircle design also draws criticism for looking bulkier and less appealing, making this feel like a limited upgrade unless the pricing works out.
Watch 4 owners wanting a much snappier everyday smartwatch, because app loading and screen switching feel dramatically faster on the newer watch.
Watch 7 owners who mainly want a newer design, because the newer watch keeps the same CPU but changes the look and adds a slightly brighter screen.
Shoppers who value a straightforward trade-in process, because trade credits can apply at payment time and manual approval can fix occasional credit issues.
Watch 7 owners who are happy with their current watch, because the newer model keeps the same CPU and the upgrade can feel like paying a lot for little change.
Buyers expecting the trade-in value to stack cleanly on top of the sale price, because the sale price can be removed at checkout and the final cost stays much higher than it first appears.
People who want a hassle-free trade-in, because credits can be slow and the watch may be denied if the reset is not accepted.
Shoppers who want a cleaner, slimmer-looking watch, because the newer design is described as bulkier and less attractive.

Why don't they say if you trade in, you get $100 trade-in value? (instead of $250)
$129 plus tax for the same internals isnt worth it, no one should do that. They dont have to give the full $100, but still give $50 then. Make it around $80. Its the same exact watch with a slightly brighter screen if you want to get people to upgrade.
And to anyone asking why would Samsung give it way...sales numbers. Looks better for their investors and stockholders (against competitors) selling more units; regardless of price. What do you think it costs them to make the watch? Pennies on the dollar they sell it for.
