every time I've had that issue with the mouse it's because the part of my palm that my thumb is attached to brushes against the touchpad when I'm typing. Since I hate using touchpads anyways I always disable it and use a mouse instead.

How does this compare to the Idea pad slim 3x from Lenovo which is $20 more but seems like a quicker processor?

laptop nerds: I got my wife a cheap asus laptop a few months back. She complains that the mouse randomly jumps around, it hangs and other funky things. She has a slight hardware curse on her because she'll observe a behavior then get me over to fix it and it disappears. All the problems she has can't be repeated in an easy way.

I'm pretty PC savvy. I've built quite a few over the years. I'm good a t troubleshooting. But what I don't know is if the issue is with her laptop or with her.

So I ask are all the sub $400 laptops the same or will there be a difference if I get her some other brand other than an Asus? Is so what do I get?

Good. This, and the fact it is NOT a 2-in-1 is the very reason why I ordered it.

I would look for driver updates for the mouse. Sometimes there are hardware specific drivers as opposed to generic windows drivers, and vice versa. There may also be mouse sensitivity settings; I've had laptop pads that would detect and move things when I just hover my finger over the pad.

And then there are people (cough, mother in law, cough), who are simply and chronically technologically challenged, and there is no fix... fixing one issue, will simply result in another down the road. I find that 99% of all computer issues are resolved by simply shutting down and restarting, it's the first thing I ask, "Did you shut it down and restart?"... Then there's about 30 seconds of silence followed by, "Never mind".
