$400-500 doesn't mean anything, you have to take the size of the desk into consideration. If you're talking about a small desk, yes some $400 desks will be a solid piece.
The last $60 (small) standing desk I bought had a solid wood top (I drilled through it to mount some monitors). If you're spending $500 on a desk and getting a particle board top, you could've done better.

Not a fan of advocating for temu, but don't really believe flexispot is much more than a remarketing of the same things made in China.

I also really wanted an l shaped one but ended up just buying a second pair of legs. Not as nice but does the job

Do you press the buttons on both sets of legs simultaneously to raise both at the same time? Or are they not connected to form an L-shape?

Butted together with a small gap. I just avoid leaving things on the gap when lifting which works for me but honestly but could see it being a dealbreaker for most people.

Great price, dual motor is the best way. Just add a stained butcher top and should be good to go.

Uh no. Nobody is selling a solid wood top for 60 lol. That's why you're getting downvoted. Your info is just wrong. Solid wood is like 1000+. Butcher block is around 400-600 and can go higher. Your 60 "wood" top is laminate. Even a cheap brand like flexispot jumps the price for solid wood dramatically. Go look at their website. And this is for a tiny size desk as well. Completely wrong info.

Flexispot has a $300 solid wood option here. $60 was an anomaly and a good deal, but you don't have to go $1k to get a wood top.

I don't care if people are down voting me. Doesn't change anything. And I assure you mine is an edge grain glued solid wood top. Have drilled through and sanded the holes myself. Probably pine or rubber wood, so nothing special. But not particle board or plywood. That said, some good plywood can make a good desktop, too.

EDIT1: I corrected a mistake above saying mine was end grain glued. I'm an idiot, it's edge grain glued. Sorry for that mistake. Hopefully that was obvious.
EDIT2: They also have a ~$200 option:
