I had purchased this from Costco before for $200 but ended up returning it. When using this in a hot pot for soup, it kept turning off, I had to release the button and press again for it to start. Not sure if that's how it was supposed to be or maybe mine was defective. I ended up buying the cuisineart Costco had for $30 which does not shut off during use. The Vitamix definitely made a creamier soup. And it feels more sturdy.

For this price I bought it again. I hope my old one was defective and I won't have this problem anymore.

Hope so! We swore off Cuisineart after I looked around and asked them for specific repair parts that were easily repairable and their only response was to throw it away.

Thanks OP! Been waiting for a good sale on this. Almost got the Cuisinart from Costco, but we have a Vitamix blender and need customer support once before. They were great and resolved our issue fast with no hassle.

This is a great product and a nice assembly of accessories. We paid full price unfortunately but use it every day.

If anyone is interested in the Consumer Report rankings, the Ninja CI101 was rated best with a score of 96 and price of $90. The #2 was the Amazon Basics with a score of 91 and a price under $30. I bought the Amazon Basics one, myself. The Vitamix 67991 model only scored a 62 according to CR, and came in at 10th place.

So many differences that they are hardly comparable. Vitamix has 4 blades vs Cuisinart's 2 blades; Vitamix has 625 watts vs Cuisinart's 400 watts. So that's over 50% more power and double the cutting blades. Just look at the pictures to see the clear differences in build quality. I'll give you this, they are both immersion blenders.

Don't know about this vitamix one, but Cuisinart one has plastic drive shaft that breaks pretty easily
