I can't believe these don't have hall effect sticks for this price.

I have both. With this price, u may want to consider in 4 this. (1) the extra 3rd pair of pads (L3/R3) are programmable, which will help a lot for lots of games. (2) the sticks are exchangable as a "whole set" at about 20ish bucks. So if the accuracy is degraded u can change the that part only. (3) this is very personal- I feel the Edge one is a bit more heavier when holding it. So when playing P v P games, it somehow makes me feel more "firm" and confident......

Why is this controller so much?

Community Reviews

The DualSense Edge stands out as a premium PS5 controller for players who want extra back paddles, programmable L3 and R3 buttons, and replaceable stick modules. It is also praised for its sturdier feel and long-lasting build, with some comparing it favorably to Xbox Elite and SCUF controllers. The main drawback is price, especially since it still lacks hall effect sticks. That makes it feel best suited to players who will use the extra controls and value durability over cost.

These have been tested and reviewed vs normal controllers. Unless you competing at the top level in the world then you are wasting your money. Get the normal controller.
The rear buttons are nice though. But yeah, pretty expensive just for that.

Are these worth the upgrade from a regular controller? Will they also need to be replaced in 6-12 months like all of my other regular controllers?

Every single button is reprogrammable to whatever you want. That saves the day so much for some games. You can also create profiles to quickly switch your button layout from inside a game. The rear paddles feel amazing, better than any custom controller I've tried. Completely destroys Scuf. They click easily and fast, with very little pressure. If mine were to break for some reason, I'd buy another one. But the build quality is absolutely top notch.

controllers these days are built like shit. they got cheap and use cheap components. if your controller doesn't drift either you are lucky or you never play any games.

The FN buttons aren't reprogrammable. I've been using the Vader 4 Pro for over a year now, and going from 4 to 2 back buttons is something I can't give up.

If I could reprogram the FN buttons and still keep the adaptive triggers (only possible by buying DSX) and use the touchpad for an extra button or two (the Vader also has 2 extra face buttons) then I'd buy an Edge. Maybe one day Sony will offer a full package controller for PC usage

Or if you have disposable income and like the option of having another set of buttons Smilie

I've been eyeing these for a year, finally got one last week, and started a return on Amazon within 15 mins of using it. I HATE the shape of the controller versus the regular dual sense. It's a very angular grip and wasn't comfortable for me to hold. I'd definitely try before you buy.

This controller lasts forever. I've owned 3 Xbox elites and they were nothing compared to quality of this one. Once you go Edge, you never go back. Period
I own both, this isn't true. If you like PS5 controllers better then this is what you go with, if not get something else.

One thing that is better on the elite2: battery life.

Better feature on PS5 controllers thanks to an update: being able to pair with 4 different systems (by holding the shape button and ps button down
