Unfortunately if you need the RAM there's just no getting around a processor upgrade for this Intel "SoC". If 16" is a little too unwieldy for you the only option from HP at a similar performance class is the Flip Ultra (not the X), which is the 14" configuration with the same class of display. Configured with the 258V (32GB RAM) you will see $944.99 at checkout. I do think the portability is a decent consideration for this segment because when I saw the 16" in store it did feel quite a bit big in tablet mode. Both have the same battery, so I imagine the battery life is a little better for that configuration.
The Ultra has marginally better furnishing like the 9MP camera, but overall it seems like the Flip X and Ultra both have pretty similar build. Ideally the 14" Flip Xs came in a higher performance condition but I guess that's where HP wants to make money.
-Is the laptop actually 24 gigs of RAM with 8 gb dedicated just to the integrated graphics? If so, is that unique to HP's or are all Intel Arc's allocated their own own physical RAM as opposed to borrowing system RAM via VRAM?
Or
-Is there 16 GB of total system RAM but 8 gb is directly allocated to VRAM (thus limiting total system RAM in the process. Like the Steam Deck.
Or
-other?????
For example:
"Intel® Arc™ 140V GPU (8GB) + 16 GB(onboard)"
How are you getting this one? When I spec that out I get $100 more.
