This Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3x is a strong budget Windows on ARM laptop for everyday use, especially web browsing, email, Word, streaming, and other normal tasks. The Snapdragon X chip gets praised for staying cool, quiet, and efficient, with solid battery life, a touch screen, backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, Wi Fi 7, and USB C charging alongside the included 65W barrel charger. The main caution is compatibility, since some legacy apps, printer drivers, games, and creator or business workflows may need ARM native versions or may not work well. It feels like a capable low cost pick if your software is already ARM friendly.

Received it last week but haven't opened it, yet. I'm probably going to return it due to the lack of ARM drivers for so many printers. I'm my case it's a Brother HL-2270dw. Very disappointing.
If it's wireless it will work out of the box with window's built-in Mopria drivers. My multifunction Brother did, including scanning functions. Via USB through you're probably out of luck.

Been a great laptop so far. Main use is GF working thru remote desktop. I will say, even with my fastest USB-C charger, it's slow as hell. I don't feel it's really practical to use that type of charging for anything but overnight. Otherwise, smokin' deal for $350 - thanks OP!

Edit: I'll revisit my comment about USB-C charging. It may have been processing an update in the background during my test.

Edit #2: Yeah it's slow but bearable. The update was affecting it. Screen brightness definitely affects the USB-C charging speed.
What charger did you use, how many watts was it?

The G1000-US is Google's 18W USB-C Power Adapter, a fast charger supporting USB Power Delivery (PD) for devices like Pixel phones, offering 5V/3A or 9V/2A output, known for its standard white design and compatibility with various USB-C gadgets. It was the in-box charger for several Pixel generations, providing efficient, quick power.

18W is too low dude...even my Chromebook won't charge correctly with 25W brick... The laptop isn't being fed what it was designed to draw.

I bought the high end snapdragon in the Microsoft Surface a couple weeks ago. I can flat out tell you that the Snapdragon is not ready yet. It's buggy. It hangs and lags.... and simply put is not as fast as my nine year old i5 laptop. I would return it if it weren't for the awesome battery life. I am hoping they get things fixed, but I am not holding my breath. It will probably be another generation or two of the chipset before it's actually ready for prime time.

note: all I do is browse the web, youtube, etc. More or less what a chromebook is good for.

Maybe the surface is buggy or the version of windows. A lot of reviews like them overall. The snapdragons are as fast as CPUs in higher end laptops from 2023 onward. They are competitive with the Apple M series.

The issue seems to be windows at the end of the day. If these CPUs were paired with ChromeOS or Android, you know they'd be incredibly deadly. Windows in general is meh compared to Linux performance.

yeah I dunno. I did get an update a week ago. That very well could be the issue. I do know that on the first day this thing was lightning quick. But that only lasted a day. It takes five seconds just to load slickdeals. Five seconds to go back to youtube home page. other sites seem to do better, but still not like it was on day one. edit: and when scrolling through FB, if I click on a video wrong... it will hang up and do nothing for thirty seconds. This is the real issue I am having.

I am considering using the microsoft browser, whatever it's called, instead of Chrome/Brave. If all else fail, maybe I slap LINUX on here. If LINUX even works well with the Snap. Thanks for the reply. Gives me something to think about.

I want to assume you are talking about the prism emulation and not a native arm app

The only thing I do is load a web browser. Brave browser. It's a privacy focused fork of Chrome. Running on arm64 architecture. I also installed Chrome. That's it.

Windows updates can make or break the experience. Maybe it was a faulty driver or a patch that doesn't work well on ARM. With windows you just never know.
