- Get ready. Log into PayPal and make sure you've added your preferred credit card to the PP Wallet, and make it the Preferred payment method.
- Log into Gmail. (Assuming you'll use this to log into Perplexity to create an account).
- Go to the perplexity website and log in using the Gmail account.
- Easiest? Use the link at the end of the Deal description to bring up the HR Block products with Instant Buy links. Because try as I may, clicking on the left hand menu - shopping tab and typing all sorts of searches, including the ones noted Did Not bring up any Instant Buys. Also, you'll burn thru your free search quota quickly.
- It will probably be the first link that has Newegg noted. Now, next to Instant Buy, there's a link WEBSITE. Click that and VERIFY this is what you Really want. Ie. Correct tax year? Correct version? Etc.
- If none of them are what you want (eg you want the Basic version of HR Block), have fun trying searches to bring up the Instant Buy for that. (Yes, Perplexity is that bad.)
- Click Instant Buy. Don't bother filling out the credit card info to give Perplexity directly, fill in your address and phone, then the cart will show the HR block for $30~ + tax + free shipping. Below that, like another pist here, there will be 2 payment options. Lord help you if you aren't clicking on the PayPal option with 50% rewards.
- Once you click to Instant Buy it, the order show up in your Perplexity account (left menu, click on your account in the lower right, in the many account settings scroll down to find Shopping purchases).
- It will also show the order in the middle of the screen temporarily. You can click for more details. An email will be sent to the Gmail you used to create the Perplexity account. Immediately, copy and save at least the Newegg order number. You can use that at newegg to look up Guest purchases using your gmail.
- This deal was only good for me buying the mailed keycard, not the digital delivery (out of stock error despite it showing in stock at Newegg. I believe this is because there's two skus - one for digital delivery of HR only, one for the same but bundled with Norton AV. The former is oos and likely what Perplexity was linking to.)
- When the PayPal rewards arrive in your account, it'll show up in the home page of PPal in the Rewards box near the top. About 1600 points for the Deluxe State version. Click to jump to the Rewards info page, redeem how you wish. If you redeem for cash, type the points you want to convert to cash and click ok. It'll take up to a few minutes for a notice to show up on the home page to Accept money from PayPal. Accept it and you can transfer it to your bank account (use the slow 2-3 day transfer to avoid fees).
- Remember to kill your Perplexity account if you don't need it anymore, and check PayPal and the email account used to create the Perplexity account to disconnect any connection to Perplexity.
- Eg Used your Google Account to create the P.ai [P.ai] acccount? Go to Google account settings, find 3rd party apps. Locate the Perplexity connection and delete it! Delete all other useless connections you don't need, too, to help keep your data and account safe.

Similar experience for me, it shipped but I still don't see points on the transaction itself, but I do see them here, unlinked to the purchase but the exact amount I'd expect for it: https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/rewards

Got buy now link on Perplexity,
But when I try to purchase I get: "This product has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase."
Any way around this?
