I've been a hanes man most of my life, but my dad gave me 4 pairs of goldtoe socks a while back, and for some reason, it took until now for me to realize they are superior.

Last year, I re-stocked ALL my socks with new hanes. And this year when i realized the superiority of goldtoe, I replaced them ALL with goldtoe!

I can confirm the goldtoe socks from walmart and amazon are not the good ones. The ones from Kohls are.

I inspected the packages, and they were identical, except a couple small things:

- kohl's goldtoe socks are made in Honduras, the amazon ones are made in Pakistan
- kohl's goldtoe socks are (79% cotton, 19% polyster, 1% spandex, 1% nylon), amazon ones are (77% cotton, 20% polyster, 3% spandex)

(and the walmart ones were just different)

The kohl's ones aren't quite as good as the ones my dad gave me, but still very good, and better than my hanes socks.

(in the pics, amazon on the left, kohl's on the right - these are quarter socks, but I've got a pack of crew socks sitting next to me (just put ALL the new socks in the washer) and the materials/manufacturing country are the same)

My last pack of Gold Toe socks got holes in them within the first few times I wore them. I think they were purchased a year or two ago. Very disappointing, as I'd had good luck with them in the past.

Great socks. I was hoping Amazon would put the brown colors of this sock on sale for BF/CM.

Keepa shows the brown (rust?) and all the other colors are down to $18 instead of $22.99, .so they are on sale, just not at the steep discount the white ones are.

Poor quality since Gildan bought Gold Toe. Thin socks now.

They've been that price for months.

Gildan bought Gold Toe in 2011 for $350M. I've bought 12 pair of these in the last 2-3 years and they've been exceptional, especially compared to other brands like Hanes. The material is thick, the elastic has not sagged, and I've had zero holes - and this is coming from a guy who literally wears a big-toe hole in every single pair of shoes he owns, including a pair of Hi-Tec leather boots one time.

Source? Keepa doesn't agree with you. Price dropped on 11/20, but it's been a constant $22.xx all year at AMZ

Not who you replied to but, if you look at reviews on some Gold Toe socks - based on the material or construction, some think they are getting counterfeits from amazon compared to what they bought in a store at about the same time. I wonder if it's just variation in production origin or if counterfeiting is really a problem. Was tempted to buy but I might get them at a local Kohl's on a coupon first to see what they're like.

It is a country of origin situation. I can't remember which country was best, but I ordered from both Kohls and Macys last year, because Amazon folks claimed counterfeit.

Well, even from the same retailer, I would get some made in one country, and some made in another. One version was noticeably thinner with slightly different stitching. Really annoying because they don't match my old socks.

I'm about to order six more sets of no show ones and hope some are the right thickness and feel. Oh the composition was different as well- one country used more polyester.
