I don't really think it matters for an item like this.

Powerblock with stage 1 extension might be a good option for you. Woot occassionally have them on sale.

Aoc pilates has adjustable dumbbells similar to eisenlink but with a hex head that goes to 80 or 90 pounds per dumbbell hard to beat their price per pound.

Did they fix whatever design flaw that lead to the recall?

**Update - looks like these are an updated version.

Seems like a pretty solid deal for this much weight. Going for a pair.

In for 2! Thanks OP

These were under recall back in March. They got the item fixed and redesigned.

Originally wanted bowflex but they also had a recall on the 1090's. Might as well go with the $170 ones.

I have a pair of the ones that go up to around 50lb. They have worked perfectly fine for the past year.

I purchased two of these 90 lb dumbbells from Walmart. One of the dumbbells was faulty and the mechanism would not turn properly at first, and soon after would not turn at all. Then one of the 2.5lb plates fell off and hit my foot. The other dumbbell seemed to function the way it was intended, however it's just not a smooth enough transition for me to add and reduce weight. It was very clunky and had to be placed in at the exact right angle. I sent them back after a few days.

Got my pair delivered yesterday. They are some chonky boys for sure. I've been using a set of SelectTech 552's for many years and these are substantially larger. The weights do seem to be reasonably accurate - I weighed a dumbbell at several settings and found it fell within a half pound of the setting, which is probably as much a variation in my scale as anything. I had read review of other heavy dumbbells where the 90 lb setting only came to about 81 lbs, so these are at least true in you are getting the pounds you've paid for.

The selector dial does take a fair bit of effort to crank, but feels solidly engaged. The plates that remain in the tray have a bit more play than the SelectTech and can angulate more - which means that putting a dumbbell back in the rack can take a bit more finagling to slip in properly. However, given the price, they do seem pretty solid. Definitely do not want to drop them.
