5070 desktop is like 5-7% faster then the 5080m. 5080m has more vram and much more power efficient.

Be very careful making a decision, HP.com may try to charge a 15% restocking fee (~$255) on this laptop plus sales tax if you change you mind even on an unopened laptop despite posts in their HP official support forums indicating otherwise from HP representatives. I need to talk with them Monday.
Return policies are much better at other manufacturers; HP.com's return policy is lacking details to protect you.

I continuously have issues with overheating. I use a cooling pad, but am limited to a very junky one for reasons too complex to go into. I assume this is a no-go?

I had this happen a while back.. they sent a black omen instead of the white (major let down for the extra 10 bucks I spent since I love the white color)… I argued with customer service and they ended up waving the fee after some prodding.

I do not have this laptop. I am constantly having overheating with the gaming laptops that I buy. I am interested in this one. I fear, based on the specs, that it too will not have adiquate cooling.
