What these unmanaged switches support is client isolation, marketed as VLAN, but don't assume that these switches support 802.1q or you'll be sorely disappointed. You can see from the pictures that this 'vlan' feature is turned on/off using a hardware switch.
Usually a managed version of these switches can be had for a few dollars more. Most (if not all) of these no-name switches are based on a reference Realtek design.

for those that dont know what 802.q is, according to ai:
"IEEE 802.1Q is a networking standard that enables the creation of Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) on an Ethernet network by adding a tag to Ethernet frames. This tagging protocol allows multiple VLANs to share a single physical link, a process known as trunking, and is supported by network switches to segregate traffic logically. The standard also includes fields for user priority and is widely used in enterprise networks, data centers, and cloud environments. "

Will they pass along the VLAN bits from a managed switch upstream? I have a managed switch (just 1gb tho) but would like to use this for a few machines. PON -> OPNSense (managing the vlan) -> 1gb managed switch to just pass the bits along -> 2.5gb -> NAS and HTPC.

Update: lol, amazon cancelled my order anyways doesn't much matter.

Beware of these switches from no-name/unfamiliar brands. I bought a YuLinca 2.5GB switch (because it was a great price on Amazon) and it came with a power supply that was not UL or ETL certified. I returned the switch and bought another switch that had a certified power supply.

For a device which will be powered on 24x7x365 (always powered up), I think it's important to have a properly tested and certified power supply for the unit. While an uncertified power supply will probably last for a long time, who knows how it is manufactured? Worst case it catches on fire, or maybe the power supply fails after a year. And when it fails you have no ability to use that switch until you've replaced the power supply or the switch.

I know some people don't care about UL/ETL certified power supplies but it's a feature I always look for and confirm before I purchase a product.

These are $2 cheaper and ship immediately instead of in 2 months. Most likely the same hardware underneath.

Please don't spread FUD, especially in topics you are not versed in.

For anyone curious, I had the upgraded version of this switch (eight 2.5G, one 10G SFP+, POE+) behind my opnSense firewall and no rogue packets were sent anywhere.

claims it runs at 70C under load, softening cable retention guard plastic. presumably both products are the same in that (no cooling, similar hardware, no heatsink)

Well, I'm extremely well versed in networking and all things IT (I'm a Director of Cybersecurity), and I can tell you with certainty it's not out of the question. I've seen numerous devices attempt to immediately phone home to Chinese servers after obtaining an IP address, including two no-name PoE webcams recently from Amazon that were for a Blue Iris project.

Thanks for confirming this particular device does not phone home to China. That said, I think the wise consumer's assumption should be that these no-name brands do phone home until otherwise confirmed, not that they don't.

I think he must be talking about the Israeli Mossad pagers, but I'm not quite sure what that has to do with Chinese networking gear...
