Usually a managed version of these switches can be had for a few dollars more. Most (if not all) of these no-name switches are based on a reference Realtek design.
For anyone curious, I had the upgraded version of this switch (eight 2.5G, one 10G SFP+, POE+) behind my opnSense firewall and no rogue packets were sent anywhere.

For a device which will be powered on 24x7x365 (always powered up), I think it's important to have a properly tested and certified power supply for the unit. While an uncertified power supply will probably last for a long time, who knows how it is manufactured? Worst case it catches on fire, or maybe the power supply fails after a year. And when it fails you have no ability to use that switch until you've replaced the power supply or the switch.
I know some people don't care about UL/ETL certified power supplies but it's a feature I always look for and confirm before I purchase a product.

Thanks for confirming this particular device does not phone home to China. That said, I think the wise consumer's assumption should be that these no-name brands do phone home until otherwise confirmed, not that they don't.
