if you have a PS or xbox stick with it, if dolby vision isnt important.

Or plan to get a PS or xbox. take this $150 you were gonna spend on it towards that and now you also have a video game system.

UB154 does not have Dolby Vision or the HCX processor / 4K Direct Chroma Up-scaling

UB420 adds the HCX processor / 4K Direct Chroma Up-scaling but does not have Dolby Vision

UB450 adds Dolby Vision but does not have the HCX processor / 4K Direct Chroma Up-scaling

UB820 adds Dolby Vision and has HCX processor / 4K Direct Chroma Up-scaling

HCX processor / 4K Direct Chroma Up-scaling is important if you want non 4k media to look its best at 4k as it is so effective it can make a lot of good Blu-Ray's look like 4K discs.

Dolby Vision support is important if you have a TV that supports it and want the best possible picture from discs that have Dolby Vision.

The UB420 for $50 more seems like the all-around better investment. I have this model and it works fine, but I bought it when it was $100. If I were to do it now, I'd get the 420.

I would add that the 820 & 420 also offers Panasonic's Optimizer that tone maps static HDR content.
It tone maps(optimizes) HDR content to the best ability of the display you have it connected to.
It does this similar to how dynamic HDR does it.
It does it so well, often the difference is not significant.
How well each format is transferred to its metadata plays a significant role also.

What's better about it compared to this one?

It was mentioned earlier.
This doesn't offer the HCX chipset, Optimizer and Dolby Vision.

Is the 450 not readily available now?
The only place I see it is on Panasonics website.

This deal looks to be sold out in my area -- none for shipping and none for pickup within 250 miles. Only open box.

EDIT: My mistake, I was looking at the UB420, not this product.

I don't want a Blu-ray player doing anything beside read the disc and transfer data to the next component. Pretty sure Sony etc is going to have a better processor and software in their TV - one where the silicon usually gets updated every other year - than whatever is going on in this disc player that has not changed since it's debut.
Blu-ray player: put the fries in the bag.
