The ANC helps. My step son has the Non ANC version and says it's hard to hear in a lot of situations. ANC with my Pro v2s is huge compared to not having it at all. I would say spend the $20 and get the ANC version. I have had ANC since the beats buds and I can't go back..just my 2 cents (or a nickel now cuz no more pennies being made!!!)
