A useful tool to have, especially for dealing with screw heads that are already somewhat rounded off or ones you want to prevent from rounding because they're obviously corroded and stuck in place. The Craftsman hand impact driver has dropped in price on Amazon and is now $17.70, while other stores like Lowe's sell it for $27.98 or more.
  • VERSATILITY: 5 bits for slotted and Phillips fasteners
  • EASE OF USE: Easily loosens frozen/rusted screws, nuts or bolts with the hand impact driver
  • EFFICIENT: Tightens fasteners without stripping
  • DURABILITY: Creates up to 200 foot pounds of torque when struck with a hammer
  • FLEXIBILITY: Loosen and tighten Philips and slotted fasteners, as well as drive 3/8-inch sockets.
  • Full Lifetime Warranty, refer to "Warranty & Support" section below for full details

If you use this on a daily basis, get the harbor freight version. If you're only gonna use it for brake jobs, get the harbor freight one.

I swear these tools are only ever used to remove the screw from brake calipers one time, then tossed in a tool chest, never to see the light of day again.

Review say the bits aren't durable and that its a propriety craftsman size regardless of its standard size claim.

I have this, and it has been great to remove the screws from brake rotors. No issues in the few years I have had it.

The one I bought from harbor freight broke the first time using it to take rotor screw off a honda civic. Ended up drilling the head off.

In the propane industry, some folks call these "slap hammers". They are used on LP vessels when it is feared that loosening over-torqued screws that hold the gauges against the 215PSI gas inside, will result in snapping if only a large standard or Philips driver is used.

It's not a full proof method, but it works if you are lucky.
