At this point, it is too little too late for XBox. Especially when Playstation has their Disc-less and Disc versions on sale for $400 and $450 respectively. However for someone who's looking to get a Series X specifically, this is a good find.

Agreed only on your latter point. It is never too late for newcomers/returners to buy Xbox even though it image hasn't improved. At the very least backward compatibility is still serviceable these days and physical games are more cheaper to find and buy.
The series X hasn't been low as $340 ish since BF 2023. At that time I had waited until BF 2024 for better deal and it did not happen. I lose, and picked up a used one via private sale. Still have it today.
Beside one take away from this is the next gen Xbox console will go way higher than $600 and that probably happen in 2027. My guess is good as anyone else lol
Might be a nice deal with the 20% cash back via Pay Later Paypal
This effectively puts it at around $410 before tax. That's the same price I paid new in 2020. (Straight up, no offers other than 20% off gift cards.)
One could argue that if you use that same PP offer on a PS5 gets it down to $360, but Sony's game "sales" are a joke and PS Plus is pretty weak for the price Sadly, I'm going to miss the days of $4/month Ultimate though.

I posted this two years ago on the Xbox subreddit and got down voted so hard they may have banned me. The next "Xbox" shouldn't be a console but a somewhat hardware locked entertainment center PC. With set hardware, game manufacturers can ensure compatibility and performance. Users don't have to worry about performance or having to update video drivers etc. Then Microsoft can get Windows on more TVs, can play most Steam/Epic/GOG etc games, and become the "all-in-one" entertainment system they want.
Deal related, this is a nice deal for people like me who only have a Series S. I've already used my 20% allowance on iPads for the kids and a Theragun for the wife.

The thing was 499 if you bought it the day it came out
Good find though bc $100 gift card is better then nothing.
