Just trying to learn. Why use these instead of Ziplock bags?
Multiple reasons. For starters - they actually vacuum seal the bag. With ziplock bags you may be able to press out a good amount of air at best, but it's never fully air tight. The plastic is also more durable; you can do stuff like sous-vide with them. They also have a wet-seal function that allows you to do stuff like force marinades into the food. Also - really handy for buying bulk spices and then portioning up into smaller bundles so that the larger container doesn't spoil.
