TLDR; Remove PayPal as a payment option on Walmart if you have it saved before checking out and then select it during checkout so you will be prompted to log onto PayPal and then you can select the buy now pay later option to earn the 20% reward.

After talking to PayPal yesterday, I learned that once you save PayPal as a payment option on a website such as Walmart, whatever PayPal payment option you selected when you saved it becomes the default (even if your default payment method on your PayPal account is currently different). I paid for some tires yesterday on Walmart with PayPal with the intention of earning the 20% reward. But the checkout went right through without giving me any PayPal payment options to select and used my Chase CC on my PayPal account. I was expecting it to prompt me to log onto PayPal and select a payment method so that I could select the buy now pay later option to earn the 20% reward. I called PayPal to find out the story and the rep explained that since I already had what he called "an automatic payment" stored on Walmart account for PayPal, I wasn't going to be prompted to pick a different one. He offered to remove it for me from his side but I simply removed PayPal from my Walmart payment methods and canceled the order and then reordered the tires. When I selected PayPal (which was no longer saved as a payment method) on the second order, I was prompted to log into my PayPal account which then allowed me to select the buy now pay later option. Now I see the 20% reward pending from the purchase.

No doubt it's YMMV but I had bought this through Amazon a couple weeks ago. I hadn't opened it (Christmas present) and decided to return the Amazon one since they don't price match generally. When I went to the end of the return page it offered me a $99.XX partial refund if I decided to keep it. So yea, I did.

Just adding my two cents, I tried all of the tricks others mentioned and nothing worked. Worked fine for my wife's account. Only difference is mine is a business account and hers is personal, so I'm thinking it might not work for business accounts.

We also used a chase bank account to order it through PayPal so im not sure it is chase blocking it. Already shows the rewards as pending.

I don't remember ever seeing deals like this on the original Switch, especially not recently after it was released. Looks like Nintendo is finally starting to feel some pricing pressure. Good for everyone if this console settles into a lower price point.

I just bought the Nintendo gift card from Sams club $500 for $400. I was going to wait to pull the trigger to see if Nintendo had a sale from now until Christmas. Does anyone think Nintendo will discount the console?

Only thing I can confirm is that when I looked at the Pay in 4 offer in my PayPal account, it didn't have the "Congratulations! you did it" notification on it, even though I had already used it. Now after using it the second time for the Walmart purchase, it has the "Congratulations! you did it" indication on it. Hope this helps.

Go to the PayPal app and look for rewards . It will show the points as pending . Usually within 24 hrs those points become "confirmed" and you can actually use them

Crystal ball says no sale because Nintendo typically has the worst sales compared to these resellers Walmart target Best Buy etc . You have better chances waiting for other stores to match than Nintendo but who knows

Bummer, literally bought this two days from Walmart at $499 and used my PayPal Pay in 4 20% discount on it. Talked to a Walmart agent and they said they don't refund price changes.
