I know you can buy a brand new OMEN from HP for around $600, but this has the better 8700F and is likely to be far kinder when upgrading due to non proprietry parts.

There will be open box deals on this for $300 towards the end of the year as they try to get rid of them. The 7600 kinda sucks though.

Early Sept this year was the first time I really tried to watch open box prices at Best Buy.

I saw an MSI rig with 7700cpu, 4070Sgpu, 16GBram, 1TBsdd for ~$730. Woulda drove 4 hrs roundtrip and paid $850 after gas and tax. Biggest knock was only having 2 rams slots, but you could upgrade the ram and flip the old sticks. Maybe get an AIO cooler and that's a great rig for $1K. Decided to sleep on it, but it was gone the next morning :/

They had similar rigs but not as sweet a deal, so I watched for a few weeks and they'd drop by like $25-50 a week. There were some I wanted to drop $100 more and I'd get one, but one day I checked prices and they had all jumped UP in price $100 or more. And now the prices don't drop nearly as much if at all.

I hope you're right they'll have some slick prices again after x-mas. I just haven't seen any deals match that one I missed. I live 2 hrs from a MicroCenter, but even building my own wouldn't beat that deal especially with RAM prices jumping. Argh, seeing that White Whale really messed up my perspective.

Yes, there can be some crazy prices for open box, but you have to keep a real eye out, and be lucky enough for it to be in a nearby store. I would have bought this myself if I hadn't picked up an HP M01 for $151 and then upgraded the PSU to 400w and bought 32GB or ram. Of course, being a HP prebuilt, getting a PSU and the ram to work at it's correct speed was a nightmare. Just need to score myself a 3060 12gb now.

8700F is a gimped mobile CPU without the integrated graphics, only PCIe 4x, very low cache which is important for a gaming system, and it only officially supports DDR5 up to 5,200MT/s which is far from the fastest DDR5.

RX 7600 is 2.5 years old at this point, and it was not high end when it was released.

And it's not even new. I'd pass on this for now. Plenty of deals on prebuilts this year.

I know there have been better deals than this but I posted it as a starter system, hence the price. It will be good for esports for a couple of years and then easy to upgrade as these type of prebuilts done tend to use proprietary parts unlike those from HP and Dell etc.

I got both of these last year. The Corsair is my current rig though it actually had a 4070 in it that was just dangling by the power cord and not even screwed in or attached to the PCIE slot. But the thing still works to this day. Awesome PC. The Cyberpower had an issue with the RGB lights that I fixed and the re-sold.
